LOL. I'm sorry that is some of the worst driving I've ever seen. He was off line for along time before he overcorrected, amazing.

Thats what killed Lee Shephard on the drag strip. Got loose in the harness from the seat not being bolted correctly and went out the window. Now window nets help keep that from happening. Still need strict tech. though.

That thing looked like a real piece of ****. Suspension wobbling the whole time. No wonder it couldn't go in a straight line. And then the seat fly's out too. Garbage.

I was sort of thinking the same thing when watching the video. Bad driving with a poorly built car.

they will throw off the track a C6ZO6 for breaking 11.50's and they let that piece of crap run? :wow:

like everyone said how did that car pass tech and that was about the most terrible driving I have ever seen at a race track...

Praise God that this guy had an angel watching over him for being so stupid..

Blessings,

I saw a story years ago about a Carlsbad Raceway fatal wreck. The locals called it "Carlsdirt" the track was so poorly kept.It closed recently.I guess there was no tech to speak of either then. The guy was drag racing a 60's Beetle. He lost control and rolled it killing himself. He had a plastic lawn chair drivers seat,PVC roll cage painted and padded to look real, and had laid belts across his lap in case anyone glanced in the car....Worked out well for him...

I first saw that video 20-ish years ago (and it was already old) , it was on a tape called "shoebox dreams" We played it in the background of the speed shop where I worked. Definitely a Darwin candidate....

This happened at Fremont Dragstrip (aka Baylands) back in 87 or 88 if I remember right. I wasn't there when this happened - but I worked with Rob Renfrow (Don's son) who built the car. After working with him I could easily see why this happened besides the poor driving by Dad. Let's just say Rob wasn't the most safety oriented person. :_paranoid (PC way of saying he was a hack!!) Don was extremely lucky to walk away.
