View Full Version : Bears, Saints, Colts or Patriots?
Who's it going to take it? I guess I'll be pulling for the Colts because of Dungee. The NFL can only hope the Superbowl will be as good as the Divisional playoff games were.

I would like to see Manning get a ring.I have to say the league is pretty waterdowned these days with expansion and free agency.I think the Cowboys and 49er teams of the 90s would crush any of these teams left.

1986 Superbowl revisited....Patriots revenge on "Da Bears".
Payton has a habit of choking in the playoffs and usually against the Pats. Though Rodney Harrison is probably still out, that may make it interesting!
As long as Brady doesn't play as bad as he's been playing lately, we'll be able to outrun Indys score at least. Some of his incomplete passes looked like a highschool QB was throwing last week!

Watching a bunch of the evening local sports add ons after the local IND evening news and they are interviewing colts players. One thing that I've noticed is how relaxed they are - or seem to be. I remember many of the best performing teams over the years were very calm and confident - and I'm seeing it with these guys. May not mean anything - and they could again choke as per usual !?%$#$#. Defence is playing very well, special teams is working, offense was in a slump and have come back in the past 2 games after allot of heat placed on them . If the offense continues to improve and peaks over the next few weeks - could be a run for the title. Local pressure on the team is pretty huge - new high $$$ dome, big increase in taxes to pay for that and all the additional required stuff, several capable teams who choked - I fear Dungee could be on the outside....

How can anyone hate the Patriots? (Yes, I know I'm speaking as a NewEnglander). Granted, New England itself isn't spectactular. They're one of the cleanest, down-to-earth teams in the league, you rarely ever hear about personality problems. There's no premadonnas, just a solid group of guys that work well together. Belichick is freakin brilliant and shows the emotion of a piece of furniture. He's not a screamer, he's a great motivator and expects his players to have class on and off the field. More often than not, they just find ways to get the job done. Bob Kraft has done an incredible job rebuilding this franchise.
Is it because they've been very sucessful in the past few years? You may not remember the 40 years of drought and having to listen to them on the radio because they couldn't sell a ticket. The network couldn't justify broadcasting a game that wasn't sold out. My dad was always a riot to watch during the games growing up!
Miami isn't really their rival anymore, it's either the Jets or Colts it seems now.
Though, on second thought, I suppose I can understand. It's been a tough road as a Sox fan with the Yankees always coming through in the end.

Ben's right many years of nothing and now there something, the offense works together, the defense is a little thugish at times, but it works,
Brady has to keep it together or the have a blow out like the Fish game, and the rest of the teams paid dearly in scoring, almost all 3 games after that were 40pts and one was 36,
So I say go PATS! smack Payton around take the Ring one more time,
And it the same all over the US all the Fish fans hate the Pats, it's hte same ways at here at work, you're all still mad that the hasbeen Marino never got a ring, don't worry just watch the TV you can see him every 5 mins doing NutraSystems Commercials or Courtsy car crap, :woot:

i am not sure why there are so many haters of the pats, thugish??? coach all the way down they are a TEAM, and thats how they have won in the past few years, everyone envys them.
brady is what 11-1 in the playoffs?? chances are he will not lose the game for the pats, and watch out if he gets hot, it seems they are warming up, just think what they will do when they put a complete game together
who knows, maybe now since the colts ousted that loud mouth kicker they may have a chance, that guy was worse then the eagles reciever who shot his mouth off a few years ago...

Actually I rooted against the Dolphins and Marino and Shula for MANY years. That was until Jimmy Johnson came. Marino is a prick...plain and simple. Couldn't stand him them, can't stand him now...
Go Colts...

How ironic would it be that there is a kicker's dual? (Pats/Colts)
They got Vinatieri, who helped us get to every single playoff game since 2001 and now we have a #1 draft kicker rookie, Gostowski. I'd hate having to count on Adam missing to win the game.:_paranoid

I hate the Patriots with a passion.... but I think they're going to win it again.
The reason I hate them all started with "the tuck rule".... what a load of crap that was. I think the Raiders would have won the Super Bowl that year, but got screwed.
Ever since then, they beat alot of the teams I like. They are a great team and I have alot of respect for Bellechik (sp ?) and Brady is a great QB, but I still hate them........

That was payback for the BS "Roughing the passer" call against the Pats in the 76 AFC playoff game against the Raiders. I googled that game, read on:
Divisional playoffs December 18, 1976
Oakland Raiders 24, New England Patriots 21
at Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, California
* TV: NBC
A controversial roughing the passer call set up Raiders quarterback Ken Stabler's winning touchdown with 10 seconds left in the game. The Patriots scored first after an 86-yard drive was capped by running back Andy Johnson's 1-yard touchdown run. However, Oakland scored 10 straight points, including a 31-yard touchdown reception to wide receiver Fred Biletnikoff with 39 seconds left in the first half. The Patriots then scored two touchdowns of their own in the third period to regain the lead, 21-10. In the fourth quarter, the Raiders marched 70 yards to score on a 1-yard touchdown run by Mark van Eeghen to pull it to 21-17. Late in the final period, a roughing the passer penalty on Patriots tackle Ray "Sugar Bear" Hamilton nullified a third down incompletion and gave the Raiders an automatic first down deep in New England territory (instead of 4th and 10). Replays would later clearly show that there was no illegal contact, but the call setup Stabler's game-winning touchdown. Biletnikoff finished the game with 9 receptions for 137 yards and a touchdown. Oakland avenged its only loss of the year, which came at the hands of the Patriots.
Sounds like they're pretty even to me.

Man, so disheartening...where are all of my fellow Chicagoians??? I see the Bears beating out the Saints this weekend, not by much mind you, but they will pull it off. In all honesty its going to come down to which Rex Grossman decides to show up and play. Bears offense should do decent damage, seeing how the Saints defence leaves alot to be desired.
I would like to see Bears/Pats for the Super Bowl, if only for the second coming of Chicago.
so if you haven't guessed by now...GO BEARS!!!!!!

Would love to see that!
Another PATS hater here. That's mainly because they took a 2nd Super Bowl away from my St. Louis Rams and I'm just sick of seeing them win; just like I was sick of seeing the old 49ers win and beat on the Rams all the time.
I'd like to see the Colts vs the Saints, with either one winning would be great.

The next big game Manning wins will be his first.
Pats/Bears
I think Pats/Saints would be a better Superbowl, but I don't think the Saints will be able to win at Soldier Field in January.
