Wow!:hail: Those side munt headers look awesome!!! I haven't seen those on a car in a long time. Is you vette considered Pro-Touring?

Is anyone else using side pipes on their Camaro's?

Are sidepipes today considered, "Passe"?

If not, does anyone have some pictures thay can post?

Can you tell us more about the wheels as well? Type, Size etc?

What Brand of Headers are they?

Can you still set your car low enough to help the handeling.

Leg burns still a problem, or do they have double tubes now to decrease the burning?

Thanks,

tyoneal

What ever floats your boat in regards to side pipes being "passe". Maybe they are and you help bring them back into main stream. Personally I love the side pipes on 3rd gen corvettes. It just gives them a certain attitude and sound.
Great addition to that vette. The car loooooooooooks pretty good to me!

IMO, always do what you feel is right. The heck with the others.

I think it would be interesting to see an updated version of those done with the "Spin Tech Exhaust".

Tyoneal,

Those are Hookers, and have been around for ages.
This car has a big block, but they make them for small blocks too.

They spin through a pair of JCL Spiral Baffles instead of the Hooker glass pack junk. The spiral baffles give them a wicked tight rhaspy sound.

Is this car pro-touring? I think so. It is sitting on tubular front control arms tied into a pair of dual mount fiberglass springs (no coils on either end). They are fully adjustable for ride height and firmness. The front has a 1 1/8" bar with a 7/8" in the rear. All on poly mounts with killler bilstien shocks. I can actually lower it another 1/2", but the oil pan would be in severe danger.

I have added a rack, hydraboost brakes, and that ties into stock four piston calipers on each wheel. It will throw you through the windshield when I stomp the brakes if you don't have your five point harness on. I would love to have some big bling-bling brakes like I put on my 69 Camaro...but these things just work too darn good to mess with them right now.

Engine is a port fuel injected .060 over 454 mated to a ROD6 and dressed in ice cold vintage a/c. Gauges are Autometer pro-comps...and then for good measure I had to add power windows, locks, keyless, tilt/tele...big radio...etc.

Seats are 94 Vette.

The roll bar is not NHRA approved...but is better than nothing and adds some good looks to the ride.

I finished this car just as the smooth lip rim was coming out. Intro wan't able to put a 12" rear hoop together in the smooth lip...so I have the standard old style hoops. That's okay.

Front are 18x9.5 on a 4.5 bs 275 35 18
Rear are 18x12 on a 5 bs 335 30 18

Tires are Pilot sports. They have been wonderful, but are no longer as sticky as they were, so it is hard to keep the back on the ground when you romp the throttle.

=========================================
Those must of been the exact pipes I had on my '69 Camaro. The left side fitted better than the right, but with a little flame, they fit just fine. Mine were Flat Black. They are seriously Bad-Ass to look at and sound to. I also, had the slip in baffles. (I think I first saw them on a 1968 L-88 Vette, and I think they raced with them at Daytona?) My mind has faded somewhat.

Mine was a Real LS-7. .030 over, matched Open Chambered heads 2.19 intake, 1.88 Exhaust, 12.5:1 Compression, Holley Strip Dominator intake with a Holley 750 or 850 Double pumper. Cam, Crowler X-36-F (I think) .632 lift .310/.312 Duration (Mechanical). Roller Rockers, Stud Girdle and the Side Mount Headers. In 1979, it was a real Hoss! Fast as hell, but a Bitch-Willey Driving around sanely on the street. It felt like it liked only one speed, wide open. :-)

I had to have another car to date. A $450, 1969 Volvo 142s. There wouldn't be a father within 100 miles that would have let their daughter go out with me otherwise. Thank God for the BusBoy job's. It would have been a very lonely part of my life at the time.

Since getting back into the Hot Rod world again, it would be Ho-Hum set up, compared to the new stuff. The Drivability of really high hp engines is simply unbelievable. I can't even imagined what I would of thought had I been told of the engines there are today, and how EASY it is to make great power, and on pump gas to boot! (No more 94 Leaded with Octane Boost or AV Gas)

Oh well those were the, "Good ole Days!", NOT!!

Thanks for all you imput, if you ever get tire of that ride, send me an email, that would be something that I would have some real fun with.

Take Care,

tyoneal
