Some current pics of the latest progress. Still trying for Detroit Autorama (3-9-07):willy: I think I'm wishful thinking at this point. Still good to have a goal I guess. The oil temp gauge was wrong so I have to wait for the right one, in case you were wondering why there's an empty hole. Next step will be shaving drip rails and cutting down and re-fitting the bumpers. That should pretty much be it for metal work. I'm hoping to have some color on this thing by the end of the month.

Nice Work!

I noticed the mirrors too and was wondering what kind they are? Are those embedded marker lights I see in the mirrors?

:_paranoid MARCH??? Wow, that's aggressive Jeff. If you can get that done by March, then I have no reason not to be done with mine by SEMA :D Good luck. If you get in a crunch, put that Trush guy to work. He doesn't have anything going on!! Keep up the killer work.

I thought you of all people would remember what color I'm going. Basically same color as yours with a carbon fiber hockey stripe and tail panel. We still have to do some spray outs to determine the exact color, but basically some form of candy red.

Thanks, we've got over 100 hours just filling and smoothing the floors and frame. Should all come out pretty sweet, there isn't a seem or weld to be seen. Hopefully it will all be worth it in the end.

Riiiight, I forgot. That will look insane. :hail: I always wanted to see what my car would look like with dark centered wheels.

BTW, Candy is a pain if having to do repairs or fixes. I'm pretty much stuck with some fixes I need to do. Otherwise repaint the whole car

I like your car. I can appreciate the work going into it. It was wierd. It was like looking at my car under construction. If your car was a 67, I'd swear we were building the same car. Like looking into a mirror.

Candy is cool and all, and we've done plenty. But if your going to drive the car, and if your going to spray out a test panel/disk. Once the color is the way you like it go to the paint store and have them take a photo of it with a "paint camera". Then have them mix up a metallic that matches. Trust me you'll get the same look, but without the hassles of candy.

Yeah, they look a lot better now. It's amazing how much better they look after tucking them into the car more. It looked like Dumbo at first.

They are vision hot rods VF4 mirrors w/LED's.

OK I havn't heard one good thing from anyone about candy since I decided. Now I'm having second thoughts. Can you really have a non candy color look as good as real candy? I've just had this thing pictured in my mind for so long, it's hard to think of anything else.:willy:

Jeff,

Here is an example of a 32 we built and painted candy, and then switched to metallic. You tell me which is which.

I like them both, and the color! If I had to guess, I would say the bottom one is the true candy. Please tell me I'm wrong so I can use a metallic that looks good.

and other custom touches. Looks like you have a nice project going on. I know there is lots of time under the car as well.

I think I heard about your seats yesterday while checking on the progress of mine. I can't wait to see them completed!

I had the same feeling, so what did I do after my painter urged me to go with base clear? yep, we painted it Candy. I could never have pictured it any different. I don't want to discourage you, just wanted to let you know of some of the headaches with it.

I'm just going to drive my car now until the paint falls off, then repaint it sometime down the road. Probably candy again

I've been wondering for a long time now...

Do you think Boyd wears those ugly shirts as a "Trade Mark" or if you think he really likes that stuff?

Maybe he has eye troubles (that would explain the dark glasses on all the time)

The bottom is the candy, I actually don't have a pic of the metallic in the sun. But I can tell you they look almost identical in the sun. I personally don't think candy makes that much difference to justify the problems.
