Brake Line Routing, Ford 9"

I am starting to start the layout for my rear brake lines across my 9" rear end, and I am not sure how I want to run it. Does anyone have any pictures of how they ran their brake lines across their rear diff? It would be helpful if some could post some pics. Thanks

if your worried about the way they look . you could run 2 braided flex hoses up. 1 from each wheel and then tee them together. i like it that way so when you doing maintenance , or if you have to remove the rear you can just hang the calipers, and not have to bleed the brakes after. :thumbsup:

used braided line on each side of the tee out to the calipers. I zip tied them to the axle housing in a couple of spots. Vaccum line was used where the tie held it to the housing to keep the braided stuff from cutting the tie or rubbing the finish off the housing.

I want to have hard line because I don't want to hose clamp or zip tie anything around the housing. To me I think that method looks kinda half a$$ed. If I am running line I might as well take my time and do it right.

already welded to the rear end housing you are going to have to zip tie or mount them (hard lines) in some form or fashion anyway. If your rear end housing is not painted or coated you can weld on tabs and use either hard line or the braided stuff.

The main reason I went with braided is it makes it very easy to service the brake system. I do not have to disconect the lines if I need to remove the caliper to change rotors or have them turned. I am running the wilwood calipers, so I do not need to remove them to change pads. Depending on what caliper you are using you may need to.

I am using a Baer caliper (PBR) and if I am not mistaken, you have to remove the caliper from the rotor to get the pads out. I am in the middle of fabbing up a bracket which protrude off of the 9" housing flange toward the center of the housing, this will hold the union where the hard line and steel braided line meet. The flexible line will go to the caliper so you can remove it. I will post pictures once I do a mock up with all of the parts. It should be pretty trick if it works that way I am thinking it will.

you could always run the braides lines up to a spot on the frame where the lines connect in then run hard line on the underside of the car to the other side bracket for the other braided line.
