From what i've seen on here quite a few guys have some serious fabrication skills. I was just wondering why more people don't build custom intake manifolds? Is it because the flanges are hard to come by? getting around the cooling system? I am specifically interested in a intake like mike morans quad turbo camaro.

obviously its made out of a set of headers, is there alot more too it then what i'm thinking?

It is just materials and hard work. That thing is possible but ALOT of work. I bet that intake and headers costs 20,000 with the intercooler and such. I know we could do that at my shop but not to many people have the dough to build that.

I'm sure there are lots of flow considerations taken into account.
I'm in the early stages of designing/building a custom intake manifold for twin turbo setup.

very cool man, you have any pics yet or are you just planning right now?

I'm pulling some dimensions off a LS1 intake, and working out a design in Solidworks. I'll post some picts as soon as I have something worth looking at.

These guys make some cool goodies for someone wanting to make a custom intake manifold.

I was told by Mike Moran,he had 45k in the intake, exhaust, turbo ducting, etc on this motor, the motor made so much power it wouldn't go down the racetrack, couldn't get the car to leave.anyway they weren't headers that whole system was built for scratch, there's areal intake in there
amyway,I built a sheetmetal intake for my LT1,was pain cutting and fitting, final welding, pressure testing to make sure there was no leaks.

That was those fabrication experts at Wheel 2 Wheel Powertrain.

More then most people would think. Boosted cars not as much

Do you want one just like the Quad Turbo? What engine and car are you putting it in? Are you planning on building it yourself? I'm sure a lot of calculations went into that intake, but if you want something that looks like that it wouldn't be that hard. It looks like they used a tunnel ram as the base.

I'm not really THAT interested in building one. Just planning on learning how to fabricate, and if its not too much work, then why not, ya know? They sure look cool, and i'm not gonna lie, that would have to be the main reason, lol.
