View Full Version : Tremec TR6060
Anyone know anything about the Tremec TR6060? I see the Ford GT500 has it and the new Viper is getting it...

I just saw something on this trans as well. Would definitely like to hear more...... I wonder if you will have to go through Chrylser or Ford to buy it? Or will it be available on the aftermarket?

Other than that it is derivative of the T56 by design and incorporates a lot of the typical mods that the aftermarket has addressed with beefing up of the T56, I don't know anything else about it yet.
Oh, almost forgot...

If the 6060 uses the T56 case, then I assume the extra torque capacity comes from a different angle on the gears and enhanced gear material. Possibly siimilar to the SRT10 T56 transmission.

From what I've read online, the C6 Vettes have them. In the regular and Z06 they are designated the MM6 and in the ZR1 is a MZ6. But the MM6 is only able to hold 500ish fl lbs of torque with the Mz6 at 256 ft lbs. But :hail: all you owners of the rides on the members section. Someday I'll hopefully do a build of my own.

The new CTS-V is scheduled to use it in conjunction with the supercharged Ls motor.

Some more features of the TR6060
-Reduced friction in the shifter system courtesy of a new cam and anti-friction plunger to control the side load shift detents.
-Forward and rearward shift detent grooves are broached on the front of the mainshaft with a spring-loaded anti-friction roller, for more precise control of shift detents and positive shift feel.
-Anti-friction ball struts, sintered hubs and fine-pitch splines on all synchronisers for reduced friction between components - delivering improved shift feel and reduced shift efforts.
-Wider, two piece gears with machined clutch teeth for more precise gear engagement and reduced potential for gear block-outs.
