Hey everybody,

Sorry to post yet another 'Help me pick a wheel' thread, but I am really having a hard time picking out the right wheel for the Impala. Any suggestions would be most apprciated. I am most likley going to use an 18 x 8 for the front and a
20 x 10 for the rears. I am open to any and all suggestions so let me know what wheel and model you might recommend!!
Help!!!!! :hail:

...please move to wheel section if you'd like. sorry!!!

Yep, I second that! I love that rim and they look bitchin on every car.
Some Billet Specialties Legacys would give it a nice retro look and go well with all the trim and dual antennas, etc.

Thanks for the fast response, everybody! Some great ideas. It's nice to see that my thoughts are not too far out of line as to what others would envision on the car.

I think a nice set of billet wheels would be bitchin. Something like Trush has on his 61 Buick.

Yup! That's the look I want. Definately. I really want the wheels to have the 'smooth barrels' instead of having the drop exposed on the front of the spokes.

Much, much better, Randy!!!!

Jeff, can you send me some info on what you did to put the Corvette calipers on your Buick? I have a disc brake conversion kit and I also have a set of C5 calipers. Can I just change the bracket to allow the C5 calipers to fit on my stock spindles instead of using the single piston floaters that came witht the kit?

I remember walking around Charlotte GG last year and thinking "where did all these cool buicks
come from?!" I don't think I had seen one before then.

I also like the GTX-70 wheels -- I have them on my fairlane:

Price range? Im lookin into Boss 338's. 20x10's are 230 a wheel and 18x7 are 170. Just my 2 cents:unibrow:

20 x 10's and 19 x 8's. Schott Americana for a 5-spoke or NewGen Decenio's for a multi spoke. These are the two sets of wheels I'm buying for my 61 bubble top impala and my 62 bel-air post car.

Driverz is the best.

Thanks for posting the pics, Randy!

The wheels that I went with are Intro V-rods. They are 18x8, and 20x10.

Looks like the exact same offset that 61ragtop has in the above pics?

Got a favor to ask, before I pull the trigger on my Billet Specialties, can you supply me with the backspacing you went with? I have been told 5.5 on the back and 4.5 on the front. Just want to make sure.

I would help but I am not positive on the fronts and I have a narrowed rear end so it will be different.

Hi Dennis,

It has been a long long time since I bought my wheels, but I think that you are correct on the back spacing.

Can anybody else chime in just to be sure?

It will also depend on what brakes you use I think too. The guys at intro are very helpful with knowing the right spacing on them. Maybe call them or billet specialties and ask if they know. I know they knew At intro as they have done a few of the full-size chevs.

I just checked mine for some one else and the fronts are 18X7 with a 4'' spacing. and the rears are 20X8.5 with a 4.5'' spacing but as mentioned in my earlier post my 9'' rear end was narrowed a little more than the stock one.
