Ok it's getting time to spend money guys, I need some help on ideas for brakes and front suspension, we have voted for bolt on stuff, I think I have a idea for the front suspension and brakes that will save us some of the green stuff. This is what im thinking SPC fully adj upper control arm with a ATS AFX spindle, and stock lower with del-a-lum bushings in the lower, I originally did not think we could afford the AFX spindle but I have a line on some c-5 take off brakes all the way around and will save us ALOT, The rear we voted on ford 9 inch it is on order and I can get the correct bolt pattern in the axles for them they are out till jan so there is time on that. We have already got a smoking gun of a deal thanks to the nascar guys on a new sweet steering box with arm so we did great there, If this sounds like a good idea or bad idea lets hear it or any other options

If the AFX spindle is in the budget, go for it! If not, save a few bucks by keeping the stock spindles with tall balljoints, and a Kore3 C5 conversion. You can save some money on that too, by machining the stock front drum hubs down to fit inside the C5 rotors instead of buying their billet hubs.

What kind of horsepower are we expecting? Is the 9" even necessary? Maybe you could find an 8.5" 10-bolt? They are kind of rare but still much cheaper than finding a 12-bolt, as they were a mid-year switch in '72... Chevelle, El Camino, Monte Carlo, Lemans, Cutlass, and Skylark all switched to the 8.5" "corporate" 10-bolt sometime in '72. They are way stronger than an 8.2" 10-bolt, and almost as strong as a 12-bolt. They'll easily hold up to 450+hp.

The LEE nascar box sounds great if they don't have some funky setup that makes them easier to turn left than right, or something like that... I really don't know much about them. I do know a Caprice 9C1, or a Jeep Grand Cherokee have a good quick-ratio that can be found cheap... they're nothing like that LEE box, but the budget will be easier to stay under by going "cheap" on a few things.

The box it a sweet mfg coated and valved 14-1 with the arm we paid 165.00 with shipping Ill post a pic of it later very nice part, I was thinking the stock lower just to save some change and I can buy the complete c-5 brakes for 225.00 take offs from a new car probably under 50 miles on them, By the time I use a stock spindle with a adapter for 100 something machine the hub and use a howe tall ball joints we are in it 300 or 400 then the bump steer also it was getting so close I just figured the AFX would be the way to go, I have went round in round in my head on getting the car to handle and look killer but still be in our budget range. The polls alredy voted on the ford nine, and I actually think it is the way to go, we have a nice 350 posi third member 31 spline already purchased for 150.00, a new a-body 9 housing with axles on 4.3/4 pattern for 750.00 The corp 8.5 ten bolt was a option but the time we buy a posi gears set it up with c-clip eliminators it was getting expensive, the engine will produce in the 420hp range and around 480fpt with a mild 455 Im actualy going to copy a old article in PHR mag for the build with a couple changes.

S-Curve score today, Well I have been trying to get brakes and suspension down on what to buy what we can afford, We had luck and got some spindles lines bear hubs from our good friend mike (HotRodV6) I purchased the 13 inch corvette rotors zink plated cross drilled slotted for 99.47 shipped, I was getting ready to purchase the pbr calipers and remembered my brother inlaw works for saleen, hey they get a crap load of take off brakes from new cars, we are running a ford nine inch with big bearings so..... the new ford rears have the same axle flange as a big bearing nine, well I called the red headded stepchild of mine and he said sure they have a guy that takes care of the take off parts, and there is a huge area full of take off discs and he will have him call me tomorrow so it looks like we are going to be set on brakes for a helo cheap price :D

Here is a decent brake set up for less that 1500.00 front and back (right at 1500 with drilled/slotted/zinc wash) 11 3/4 inch brakes with brackets, hubs and 4 piston billet calipers on both ends. Alot of dudes around here run em. I have basically negotiated their web site and landed you where you need to be. Scroll down, the first two choices are fronts next down are rears. I spoke to them and they said 1520.00 slotted/drilled/zinc. plus shipping.

He axed and I answered. I saw your brake set up and I like it. Even considered it. Money is obviously an object here and an extra couple hundred for brackets, shipping and such and you are knockin' on 2 grand. This route you could buy the brakes and a Hydratech set up, still be under 2K. This way you are getting reasonably priced 4 piston brakes that look fancy(shiney stuff with the billett hubs and calipers), not as big as the Vette Z06 set up you have, but it has the brackets and looks to boot.

Not knocking your suggestion by no strech, just trying to be thrifty with someone else's money.

Looks like with his Saleen connection, he has it covered. Up side is that if the bolt pattern is for a ford, just order the wheels with a ford bolt pattern too instead of changing it to 4 3/4 GM style.
