I am looking for some suggestions on systems people have put into convertibles? Has anyone put a box in the trunk for rear speakers?
Any info is greatly appreciated. Not looking for a real high dollar system but the most bang for the buck!

Pioneer makes good affordable recievers.I like JL and kicker for subs.As far as amps there are lots of good affordable companies ,Phoenix gold is one of the better ones.Mb quart and rockford/fosgate make some nice speakers also.I hope ths helps you out.
if you're looking for something that will fit in a stock dash, Kenwood still makes one. I have their KRC3006 am/fm/casstte deck (it fits in the dash and comes with a faceplate that also fits, is available from the repro houses) and thier 10 disk remote changer in the trunk.
I got a sub in the trunk, which works well, but regular speakers don't, you can't hear them with the top down and the high freq's get severely muffled.
Check the convertible forum at www.camaros.net, speakers in ragtops is a matter of much discussion their. One member managed to get 5 1/4" drivers into the rear side panels, just below the folded down top frame. Another did a really slick install in the kickpanel vent. Other have even put tweeters in the astro vent tubes!

There are a bunch of models that look like the original radio (made by Autosound?) Classic Industries, and everyone else sells them. Call me crazy but I bought the basic AM-FM for my 68 Camaro and use an IPOD with an FM transmitter. You don't have to bother with CDs, CD loaders in the trunk etc. It's cheap and works awesome. Cool part is you can bring ALL your CDs from one car to the other - on the iPod.
The sound quality and speakers in a vert are a challenge. I also have a Porsche 911 cab so I can relate. You can drop a BAG of money and still not come close to a decent system in a coupe. Hope this helps. Good luck!!
