Lets do the Math
If the dude is independantly wealthy and works 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and makes the assembly a full time job.
20000 / 8 = 2500 working days (@ 8 hrs per day).
Lets also assume the guys not a total dork and has at least a passing relationship with the family and at least takes two weeks for vacation, that leaves 50 weeks to work X 5 day per week. Thats 250 working days.
2500 / 250 = 10
Thats 10 years assuming he has no job, independantly wealthy, cool wife and kids, LET ME SAY AGAIN COOL WIFE.
Holy why doesnt the dude give seminars about how to keep the wife cool with your hobby Batman!
Lets extrapolate a little. Assume shes not so cool and he only gets to put in 4 hours a day (same basic parameters), has a full time job, kids in soccer, wife bitchin all the time about "That damn car thats too small to drive".
That's 20 years to build.
This dude is a Murderer. If I was working on a car that is 1/3 size AFTER my 8 hour a day job for an additional 4 hours, My wife would bitch at me until I had to kill her. I am catchin' hell about the 5 hours a week (including weekends) that I put into the car now. Basketball season is in full swing and Dad's gotta be there.
Thanks I needed that and Cool car.

Happily divorced here. :)
I have the ad by Stewart Warner ready to frame. You know the one where the guy is under the dash of his 57 Belair, and there are three boxes, Single, Married and Divorced with the latter checked.

Maybe his wife is into it too.
Mine is. 3 day's after bringing home the Mach, she turned and said " I love the car but how do we make it louder and faster?"
After 15 yrs of being out of it here I am all over again
That guy has done a fantastic job on that car, I'd like to see what he could do in full scale.

I was recently feeling pretty good about some trick trans cooler brackets I fabbed up. I watched that video and suddenly feel extremely stupid. imagine if that guys fabrication skills were applied to a full size car. He is obviously extremely GIFTED and EXTREMELY patient and extremely WEALTHY. AWSOME CAR.

Maybe he has a 1/3 scale wife? What freaks me out is the choice of 1/3 scale. He was so close, why not go 1:1?

1/3 scale, little hands(carneys), flat head.
And the 1:1 thing, I agree. Probably would have made acquiring some of the parts easier.

Maybe his next trick is to train a little monkey to drive it. I can just picture the little guy sitting in it with a 1/3 scale helmet and racing shoes.

This guy has my respect because he:
1. built the car and spent very little money
2. works fulltime as a relatively low paid gov't employee
3. somehow raised kids and kept his wife happy during the build
Yet, I haven't finished my car yet and can't say any of the above actually apply to me.
