Is there a way to avoid cutting up the tunnel on an ls2/t56 install inot 69 camaro? I am tryin to get a handle on this before proceeding with the body work. I do not have the motor and trans to test fit as of yet. I hear yes and no.
Any advice is greatly appreaciated..oh ya I am very new to the forum as well as ls2 swaps if you coul not tell!

I would say it depends on whose engine mounts you use and where they mount the engine. I've done a couple T56 swaps into 69's and there was no tunnel cutting at all. But that was with factory located small and big blocks. The LSX swaps may move the position of the engine which may or may not affect the tunnel.

I installed an LS2 and T56 into my 67 and the only cutting was a new hole for the shifter. I used ATS engine plates and crossmember.

First off, WELCOME!!
What subframe are you using? I beleive if you use a 21st Century frame there is a little surgery to be done...steve would know better than me though. If you are using a stock frame then all the above replys apply....

couldn't tell you, but I've already done this twice myself in a 69 Camaro, no cutting other than the shifter hole.

If you use a standard bell with a adapter plate fitted t56, the trans hits the tunnel from being so far back. Thats were the cutting stories come from.
