baggin 64 ChevyII rear?

In the coming months, I plan on taking the plain jane rear end out of my 64 Chevy II sedan and replacing the mono leaf set up with a 4 link. My question is, what options out there will allow me to convert over and run somewhere in the lines of a 17x8. Id like to stick to a mini tub and run air ride at all 4 corners. Input appreaciated

Does anyone have the hodrods to hell truck arm kit on their car? If so how was install? 4 link or truck arm what would you suggest?

Sixty4sedan - I live right by Steves shop(HRTH) and have seen a few of the cars that have come out of there. If your going to be mostly streeting the car I would say that this is an excellent choice for good all-around handling. It will do well at the track but not as good as cars that are specifically set up for this. I guess the most important question would be what are you planning to do with the car? If your going to mostly cruise it then a truck arm will be fine. The only bad thing about them is the unsprung weight and the fact that it is hard to route exhaust out the back if that is what you want to do but if your going to be mostly cruising and putting your foot into it occasionally then it is a great way to go. It is also highly adjustable as far as stiffness and ride height. If your going to be doing any serious tracking of the car then you would be better served to go with a 3 link like the one from Lateral Dynamics. I have not driven in one but have only heard good things about there system. If your going to drag the car then a 4 link is a good way to go although the 3 link will also work well.
As far as minitubbing if you go to the frame rails you can probably put a 10" wheel under there with a 295/18/35 being the biggest tire that would not have any major rubbing issues although it will be tight and it depends from car to car. If you measure the inside of the wheel well from the frame rail to the lip it should give you a pretty accurate idea as to how wide you can go. If you measure from the rear part of the rear quarter where the bottom of the fender folds in to the front part of the rear quarter where the bottom folds in you should be able to figure out what the biggest tire/wheel combo would be.

I plan on making the car mainly a cruiser, so I think that I might do some more research on the hrth kit and I think it is CPP 4 link with the bag option.
For the front end I am looking at the cpp lower control arm kit, tubular upper control arms and airride. I was looking into the mustang II clips but it just seems a little outta the question for the moment. If anything I would look for one in a salvage yard and build it myself. But I am having a hard time figuring out what works with it, years? ect.... as far as stevesnovasite, been there doing as much reading as possible there.

I think the kit you are looking at from CPP is actually made by TCI and they do have an option of using the Shockwave's on them. Also with CPP's front control arms, our Shockwaves will bolt directly to them with no issues. CPP even had a display in their SEMA booth with their new control arms and a Shockwave mounted on them. We also make our own tri-angulated four link for the rear of those cars so it is going to boil down to you and what you want to put on the car....... :)

OH YEAH!!!!......you should look into ART's Air Bar setup especially if you are going to be bagging the car. I hear good things about it!

We haven't tried an AirBar on a Minitubbed Nova yet, but I can't see why it's not possible. All the mounts are to the inside of the frame rail. The only problem I can forsee is the with the lower bar. I have see guys move that in as well, but you gotta know what you are doing.

He's got a 285 tire stuffed in there, and I think you could go to a 295 with the right tire/rim combo. That's what I plan on running, but I haven't gotten in there to actually see what'll fit...

I plan on doing a similar thing with my '66 wagon. I plan on building it for coil-overs 1st, then switch to bags as I save up the $$$.

That ride is sick isn't it? I just hope that the build I am doing is half as nice as that? I'm a little nervous as the build I'm doing is going forward and I am starting to buy all the necessary parts but what worries me the most is the full perimeter frame that I decided to build for the car. It's going to have a C-5 suspension but everyone that I talked to discouraged me saying that it would be too hard to package it but I am going to try out my theories on this anyways and fly against the status quo!(That's just me! Damn, I gotta stop doing that!) :captain:

John How is the ride coming
His rear setup is the same that i did to my car great 4-link But I did some mods to make it look a little nicer then the stock TCI one...
