back spacing?

i was looking at some new rims and the rears are 17 by 9 do u think a 6.77" backspacing is 2 much? they would be going on a 65 chevelle and i was looking to run at least a 275 tire thanks

I'd say a 5 inch should be close,a 6 inch bs is like late model backspacing.
