Hey All,
First things first....the cars here...AMAZING. It's sites like these that keep me motivated when things don't go well, and provides so many ideas. Anyways, My name is Ryan Greschuk from Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. I'm a student at the U of Manitoba looking to get into Chiropractic. My project is pretty dear to my heart. It's a 1969 Charger R/T that began as a project for myself, my dad and my brother to work on and bond. It certainly was, but sadly he passed in August of 2005. However, myself, my brother, and some fantastic guys around town are going to finish it. Did I mention that I live in a condo and don't actually have my own garage? I work out of a freinds basement where my parts are stored, and another friends garage where the body is (both are 45 minutes away). Both guys are absolute saints. This is by far the biggest undertaking I've ever made, but I'm willing to learn and not afraid to work. But on to the car....
It started out as a solid R/T body with no motor, and was an automatic car in the process of becoming a 4-speed car. The motor came out of a base Charger as did the interior and most other odds and ends. The rear end is an 8 3/4 posi unit with 3.23's out of a 1970 Charger R/T so I got the clutch posi unit. Work began about 8 years ago when I was 12, and was the first full blown restoration that my dad had undertaken as well, so now things are a little fun with poorly labelled boxes and random bolt bins.
I'm loving the pro-touring look and the increased driveability, so that's definitely the route I'm looking to go. Currently, the 440 is a little wilder than stock, but I'm not sure about specs on much of the internals. I've been told that it's running around 10:1 compression and it has a purple cam, hanrdened seats, triple valve springs internally. Bolt on's include a Edelbrock alluminum intake, a holley 750 twaeked to around 820. I've recently installed a new Centerforce II clutch when the motor was dropped in last week. Also, I installed a set of front discs to replace the drums. The 11" rotors are slotted and drilled from MP brakes and look just magnificent. Also, my set of Doug Thorley headers came the other day and I can't wait to put them in.
As far as plans, there are immediate goals and longer term goals, which will be fulfilled once I graduate. Thus far, This is the plan:
-lower the car 1" all around to clean up the wheel wells and lower the center of gravity
-heavier sway bar in front and aftermarket bar in back (1")
-17" Intro Pentias all around with black spokes and a polished lip (lots of dish)
-Not sure on tires, but I can fit 295's in back without tubbing, which I'd like to avoid as the underside metal has been painted
-2.5" exhaust with x-pipe but I'm still not sure what kind of exit to have, whether I run stock tips or tuck some nice downturns way up high
-The rad is a 26" but will be recored with 3 rows. I'd like to run electric fans in front to lose the fan off the motor (extra HP) :)
-Inside, interior will be simplified and less cluttered - no console, just a stick and a fire extinguisher
-Alpine systen will be tucked away out of sight under seat or on some brackets tucked under dash. This will need further thought. Any ideas?
-Grant Elite GT wheel
-Body mods will be all about class and subtlety - Shave antenna and bury an aftermarket one in teh headliner or A-pillar.
-Ditch front bumperettes to keep whole front end in a horizontal plane
The car will be painted a deep red with a black vinyl top, black interior, and a black bumblebee stripe, but I may lose the stripes. Probably not. I think the deep red will look great with the black roof, stripe, interior, and 5 spokes.
This car is a huge passion of mine, and it gets me so excited to see it done. Future upgrades include discs for the rear, and a T56 overdrive conversion. Anyways, I'm sure I've left out a ton of things, but that's who I am, what I'm about, and what I'm working on and dreaming of.
