I'm happy with my Magnaflows, not too loud at all until you step on it.

I am a Flowmaster fan,Super 40's sound great on the street,or 50 series.

My opinion is that it depends on what engine you have. Is it a SBC, BBC, or LSx engine? I like the Magnaflows for the BBC, UltraFlows for the LSx, and Flow Master Super 40's for the SBC.

Good question! LSX motors sound like motor boats and not the good ones with the wrong exhaust.

LSX engines sound great through a set of dynomax race bullets, 3", true duals. I have 3" H pipe on longtube headers w/ 2 chamber flowmasters turned down before the axle on my 65 chevelle w/ a 350 and dart iron eagle heads and a Lunati 00012 camshaft. this sounds great, but I will be trying the race bullets on it sometime and exiting the back of the car.

I am using the stainless Magnaflows and love them. I didn't think they were loud enough when they were installed, but about 50 miles later they were plenty loud. They acually get louder as they brake in. I get a lot of complements from the sound.

So, for a normally aspirated LSx what would be the quietest muffler (or combination of mufflers or mufflers/resonators) one might use w/o hurting performance. Keeping in mind the need to keep the size somewhat reasonable.

I have always been a flowmaster fan. BBC, SBC, LSx, I have had them on everything and guess I always will. The goat has them and so does my malibu. Heck, the GTO is in some of flowmasters advertising now (High Performance Pontiac), so I guess I am a bit jaded. I think it just comes down to personal taste, buy what sounds good to you.
