I am trying to help a friend improve the brightness of his factory tail lights on his 1940 Chevy Special Deluxe hot rod.
We have tried LEDs, halogen 1157 bulbs, chrome backing inside housing, and etc.
Problem is available lenses are thick dark red glass and block excessive light.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW of a company that can machine red plastic in the lense shape?
Any other thoughts?
3D printing is not a best option here.

These are supposed to be much brighter than a standard LED, but it'll be a pricy test.

Have you checked wiring? Good ground? Getting full voltage when brakes were applied?
You might need to step up the lumens output to get a brighter output. Most LEDs have don't have a lot of yellow/red light emission and aren't very bright behind a red lens.
That being said, I wasn't happy with the dome light in my 64 so I soldered cheap LED light assemblies together. I used copper house wiring and formed them to fit behind the stock lens. Might be something you could try?
Removed caps from 2 assemblies and formed wire to tuck behind the dome light caps.

Finished, had to slightly bend the assemblies into a curve to fit the stock lens

Great result

Have you tried these? https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Technostalgia-6043-1940-Chevy-Car-LED-Tail-Lights,5956.html?utm_medium=CSEGoogle&utm_source=CSE&utm_campaign=CSEGOOGLE&gclid=CjwKCAjw__ihBhADEiwAXEazJuiBOGMeAvsMYGGA97Rb 4MZCt9gtf7Ym4nMPm4Y_KG8XYaCSWAdqOhoCp1MQAvD_BwE
I'm not crazy about how these look and prefer the glass lenses but if you going to make lenses anyways this seems like a simple solution.
The real problem is that they are small.......and low. If the car doesn't already have a 3rd brake light, I highly recommend it.
Lenses are typically machined from acrylic and then candy painted on the backside, then you also machine a diffuser from the same material.
