700r4 problems

I have a 700 r4 in my 73 camaro. I cant seem to get the tranny to stay in gear long enough. When I floor it it will rev to about 3800 RPM and then shift to the next gear. When Im passing it wont kick down. I am going to replace the kickdown cable as I fear it is not working. I was told that the braket that holds the cable has to be really strong and as straight as possiblbe.

Does any one know of a company where I can buy both peices?

The 700R4 doesn't have a "kick-down" cable, the cable you see controls several functions inside the tranny, not just kick-down. This cable needs to be adjusted properly or it can damage the tranny due to improper pressures inside the tranny. The cable also does not have a linear pull, but is pulled at a specific ratio (varies through the pull I think). We got our brackets through Summit, TCI was the brand if I remember correctly.

What sort of induction are you using?

As was said earlier, it's imperative that the TV cable be adjusted properly.

Great thanks for the help. I am ordering a new TV cable and Braket from Lokar today. I hope this fixes the problem.

I second bowtie overdrives, got the whole setup(from the cable, brackets all the way to the plunger and spring in the valvebody) from them for my dads car, good stuff.
