Just picked up a set of second hand us mag U107 wheels from another second gen owner. The previous owner of these wheels had a speedtech pro touring front clip. I have stock suspension with lowered springs.

The wheels are 18x8 with a 245/40/18 tire. Went for alignment today and had the tires put at negative .75 degrees in an effort to help handling but most of sll get that front tire edge to miss that step up lip of the inner wheel tub as it comes in from the fender. I’m still getting some rub at the 12 o clock position when hitting big bumps. Just curious if others have encountered this and what theyve done? I’m considering cutting a small relief in the rubbing area.

Cutting it out just leaves a sharp edge to rub on. How bad does it rub? Takes a bit of paint or changes lanes when you hit a bump?

You could:

Leave it

Dial in more camber

Hit the inner fender with a big hammer

Buy wheels that fit

8" wheel needs about 5" of backspace and 1* of negative camber if you want the car low and not rub on the outside.

Where's it rubbing, the top of the tire at the lip? More camber might help, I'd not be afraid of running neg 1.25-1.5.

Do you have bump stops on the lower arms? What's the measurement from middle of the center cap and the fender lip?

It’s rubbed a good amount of paint off. Going to drive it a little more and see how it goes. If i cut it I’m not going to just leave it open but build a little pocket and weld it closed. These wheels are 2-3 years temporary while I knock out an LS swap.
