I'm using Digital Guard Dawg and while it's overall been dependable, having done it, I don't think that i would do another one.

Jeff-

Have the DBW pedal “stick” (issue with my old NW TB) and try to shut down a 1000rwhp car on the highway making a WOT 3rd gear pull. Easier to find the key on the column vs look and aim for a button.

Also while it was setting up there were a few time it didn’t recognize the engine was running and tried to reengage the starter. For the prescribed 3-4s crank time....

Overall. It’s neat. Problems have been sorted now but those times alone I would never want to repeat and will be the reason I likely will never do another one.

I was unhappy with the features of all the options on the market and bought a Switch-Pros SP-9100. I was able to just program everything how I wanted it. It's mostly used by the off-roading community but I think it's great for what we do too.

I have an Ididit Pro-Lite steering column which doesn't support an ignition switch. The SP-9100 has also been great for many other things I wanted to custom program.

I hear you. I have that Advanced Keys setup which is capable of proximity door locks, remote start, push button start, etc. Would be kinda nice to have some of those features but I don’t want the headache of a system that isn’t sorted. Was hoping someone had a positive experience to share.

It would be nice if someone offered a stand alone, a more up-to-date precision keyed unit... the ones I see out there look like replacements for a 70s riding mower. They have a really cheap look and a clunky switch feel.... I guess you could try and dress up the bezel, or hide it all together?

I know you’re joking and I too wish that a manual trans was just that. I was a bit surprised at how many of the import/tuner cars are manual.

I’m wanting to do a mild build with some modern features and use it as a Dailey. Single and I kids, so why not.

I’ve been doing a lot of research on this as I want to put it in my 69 Camaro. I found easyguard. They have a bunch of push start buttons to choose from and a bunch of key fobs to choose from as well. They sell the kits on Amazon and it has 4+ star reviews. Also there’s a bunch of YouTube install and review videos. At $125 it won’t break the bank either.

The EC002 kit on Amazon has the regular black start button and a few key fobs. eBay has much more options in terms of start buttons and key fobs but the item is located in China. I messaged one of the sellers on eBay and they agreed to swap start buttons and key fobs for no extra charge.

Here’s a link to their website:

This is the kit I’m planning to buy on eBay, but I asked them to swap to the red start button for same cost:

I like this! Curious how challenging it would be to install on my Foxbody.

According to the YouTube videos. Seems pretty simple. Just 6 ignition wires

If I was to employ a system like that I would make sure I have a good backup plan and hardware installed in the event of a failure.

i had one on my 68. I wont have one on the bird. My pedal got stuck under the mat at full throttle in 3rd gear. Having to press the brake to turn the car off while pulling 7000 rpm goin down the road took a couple of years off my life. lol

Just got the kit, the key fobs are made really nice. They feel heavy and are made of metal. I quickly read through the instructions because I was concerned about what a member said that his throttle got stuck and he had to slam on the brakes while pushing the button to turn the car off. So this kit, at any point if you press and hold the button for 3 seconds will shut everything off.

On the Digital Guard Dawg, it'll turn off at 5s without brake. On the brake it's only 1s. When the cars WOT, 1-5s is an eternity esp when trying to hit a 22mm button on the dash.

When my car gets re-wired i'm putting a big red "kill" switch on the dash for an emergency shut off.

For a frame of reference, at 60mph, in 2s my car will pick up around 40mph, and be fighting traction the entire time.
