Guys, I'm kind of in a indecisive situation here. Allow me to explain and y'all give me some insight and opinions. I'm in the process of getting ready to start on my 69 Camaro. The LS7 longblock is built and I'm about to put the supercharger onto it, install the Wegner accessories drive, etc. I have a Whipple 4.0 and it came with a cable driven throttle body as Whipple doesn't have a DBW throttle body for LS engines. The intake port on the Whipple is oval shaped and isn't designed for your standard, round Nick Williams, etc. So, in order for one to work I'd have to have a plate machined for it to fit. Here's where the decision process needs to be made. I'm ready to order my Holley Terminator Max or Max X. From my understanding, the Max is for cable driven only and Max X is for DBW and electronic transmissions, which I don't need since I'm running a T56 Magnum...but, it's $300 more. Will it be more beneficial to have DBW that warrants the $300 price different just for the sake of having drive-by-wire? Also keeping in mind the price of having to have an adapter plate machined, plus the price of having to buy a new DBW throttlebody? Or should I just keep the cable driven and roll with what I have. My car is strictly a street car and driver.

DBW is a little cleaner install but I'm sure you'll use Lokar cables and stuff so to me that part is a wash...
Are you planning anything that specifically needs DBW? Like some kind of electronic cruise control?

Interested to see what you decide. My buddy called me yesterday about something kinda the same. He needs to decided if he wants cable or DBW. DSE told him cable because the throttle response if better and thats what they use on all their cars (I'm guessing their shop cars as their customer cars are DBW mostly).

Me personally, I will be DBW.

CamaroAJ, well as of yesterday, I made the decision to just got with the cable. Didn't want to have to buy a brand new DBW throttle body at $700 and have the cable one sitting around that only fits a Whipple 4.0 which would make it nearly impossible to sell. I figured for my street driven car, the cable would be just fine. Sneak peek of my LS7....
