Having my car done by a pro in florida.
He had done so many subtle and not so subtle things to things to the car...
Here is one that i really love...he made the air scoops functional to make “ram air” work again.

That's a cool idea, I like it.
Who's doing it?

He's an independent guy based in Ocala, FL - Jeff Gaudin (954.245.5600)
He's done 5 cars for me over the last 10 or so years. While I don't think it's appropriate to turn this into an advertisement, he did solve problems that other Firebirds owners would have...
- he made brackets that straighten the fiberglass hoods to take the bow out of it; that bow created gaps on both sides of the hood line that bothered me every time i looked at it;
- he made fiberglass inner fenders that weight 3.5 lbs a piece (vs 21 lbs for stock); not for the weight savings; did it to create clearance for larger tires - mine are 295/30/19 fitted on the front;
- he made brackets for the lower shock mounting points with the rear leaf spring set up that created space to install lowering blocks that permitted lowering of more than 1-2"s while also permitting a slightly wider tire.

Is the MAF going to be eliminated?

No. I’m no expert on these conversions...why do you ask?

What are you going to do for intake air filtration? Is there some kind of filter in that hood area behind the plate?
As for the inner fenders, I run 315 / 30 / 18's on the front of my car with the stock inner fenders. I did slightly roll the fender lip, but otherwise no other reshaping of the inner fenders. The Firebird inner fender sheet metal and fender shape offer more room than the 2nd gen Camaros, so it's a bit easier to fit the larger tires.

Bryan, I believe it's a triangle filter inside the housing under the hood.
I do like this filter idea. Please show us pics of these inner fenders as well as the rest of the car. We love 2nd gens. Welcome to the site.

There are two filters,one for each snorkel inside the triangular case.
I’ve heard that different years w gen firebirds have different clearances. 315 on the fron with stock fenders is as big as I have heard though

I see it's location better now that I've looked on something other than my phone. It's ideally mounted at least 10" from the throttle body in a portion of straight tube. Just hoping you have no tuning/drivability issues as this is definitely a cool idea. It seems like the air moving across the sensor here may not be consistent.

The tuner seems to think it will be ok but will let you know. Getting close...
