Guys I have a line on some ZR1 LT5 motors for sale.

Specs:

90-92 Motors
Complete (minus ECMs)
All Aluminum DOHC SBC V8s 375HP (crank)
Very rare

There are 16 complete motors plus 8 that will be parted out.
I am taking a list of those interested in buying these, so if you want one or know someone who does, PM me. Once all parts are inspected and inventoried, they will be sold 1st come 1st served.

Price $10k each As is for the complete motors. No guarantee they will start right up. Suggest you tear down and refresh the motor before attempting to run it.

Got them from a company in Texas. They in turn got them from GM. (At least that is what my partner tells me) :_paranoid I am not doing this alone. My friend here in Vegas owns a Red Anniversary edition ZR1, and a black ZR1 he races on weekends. He is a member of ZR1.net. He is dangling 5 preproduction units (also a part of this lot) GM used for testing in front of them. 11 people are on that list and they are going for more than $12k.

I will consider it. But right now we are only taking names and e-mail addresses of interested buyers. So if you really want one, PM me get on the list. These are rare parts and motors, so we are insuring all interested buyers are serious.

I'd rather have the whole car for a $5K more.

I would love one, but I don't think it would be a wise money move right now... No new job yet (but lots of interviews so far!).

Thanks anyway... :(

remember seeing some tv show, possibly rides, where there were on 1 of the tours across the country & stopped by some shop that had a dozen or so zr1 engines. they said the shop helped gm tuned the motors during development.

That was probably Rick Kirk's shop in Ripley,OK.

$10K for a 90-92 LT5 and not even guaranteed to run? Better hope it doesn't need a rebuild. Main bearings and oil pumps are unobtanium.

That is understandable. That is why we are not taking any money, only names right now. We have seen motors on ebay for 10+ and we know that these are discontinued motors only true enthusiast would appreciate so we are asking a high price to weed out lowballers. We will not sell them for $3k  . So any hot rodders out there looking for their dream engine get your name on the list, we will work with you.

I can buy crate 93-95 405hp LT5's for less than $10K. Just passed up a 94 LT5 and ZF6 trans w/5K miles for $10,500.

Clill
That would put the motor at $8.5K and the tranny at $2k.

Hey Ron. How's business? Uncle Sam treating you OK?
PM me, put your name on the list, we can still work something out.

I know what you mean about those heads. When I saw that they raised the price of those heads, I gave up my quest for them. :faint: I am loking at one of these motors if any are left. Funny how thing come full circle.
(Or is that just me :willy:  )

Like I said ealier $10K is not set in stone; we just want to make sure buyers are serious because these are rare collectibles.

So quick impromptu poll what is the biggest deterrent from LT5s?
Initial cost?
Scarcity and cost of parts?
or Skills required to repair / upgrade performance?

On the last choice I know of 4 performance shops that still work on LT5s,

Doug Rippie Motorsports
LPE
Callaway Cars (I think)
Haibeck Automotive Technology

but then you run into the second choice.

What say yous guys?

On the poll, the first two items are a major deterrent. Working on them isn't that bad, just different. Kinda like the difference between building a SBC and a LSx.

Doug Rippie and Callaway really don't want to work on LT5's anymore. Mark Haibeck and Aaron Scott (South Georgia Corvette in Thomasville,GA) are the best LT5 tuner/builders for the money,IMO. LPE does decent work but they're overpriced. Greg Van Deventer in Stillwater,OK does some of the best machine work on these engines.(he works at Mercruiser) Bill Kirchhofer in Mt.Washinton,KY is an excellent builder, too.

South GA corvette is just down the road from me. I hope to get that guy to do my dyno tuning once I get my camaro going. LOL I think it is the man around here when it comes to turbos which my car will have.

After taking the concerns from the lateral-g forum back to my partners, I have been given the authority to negotiate the $10K price so make me an offer.

The only catch is new buyers will be behind those already on the list. Send me a PM right away.

All those who put their name on the list have either backed out or been sold. There are still some motors left. Price is now at $6K neg. If there are anymore takers, drop me a PM.
