Looks like I may need to buy a new engine unfortunately. The original builder of my engine was Skip White (now White Performance location). However, now I guess the companies have separated into two different engine builders and I don't want to go with the wrong one if one is better. I am looking to spend around 8k on the engine, but also want something that is pretty much plug and play to what I have now as far as set up.
I am not super familiar with this type of stuff so I would like it to go as seamless as possible. I am considering a 434 this time with fuel injection. but that would run me closer to 10k. I am completely open to suggestions if you have them. Also, if anyone knows a good performance shop in the north Dallas area.

I bought some parts from Skip White on eBay several years ago. They were complete junk. If he sells junk parts, odds are he sells junk motors. I would stay away.

Why not rebuild the current engine? Have you determined exactly what is wrong with it yet?

Mechanic doesn't think it would be worth it to invest the money into rebuilding it based upon its history of being in the shop already. Motor has had over 10k worth of repairs done on it in the last year in a half. He think its something internal, but doesn't know for sure. His assumption is Piston rod or Piston pin. He just worries that if I spend more money fixing things it may end up back in there in 6 months.
However, I am going to take it over to Mike Dusold and have him take a look before I pull the trigger on a new one

So I ended up rebuilding the engine with a very well known guy in our communities shop. the rebuild is costing me almost 12k. Had I known it would have been this high I would have just gone with an LS or LT conversion. However, I am now trying to figure out whether or not to add an Oil cooler to this engine.
Engine is a very well built (hopefully) high performance engine pushing out around 600+ HP. To add this it would be another 2000-2500 dollars. I mainly street drive this back and forth to work and around town, but will occasionally track it.
Has anyone added one of these and what are your thoughts? The last thing I want to do is waste another engine and be out 12k.

Whoa. What is the parts and labor breakdown for a $12k SBC rebuild?
And what oil cooler system costs $2500?
Need more info....
