I started out using the Painless fabric loom and it's great stuff but pretty pricey. I found the Summit brand fabric loom to be half the price and just as good. They sell a tool to help lay the wire inside the loom and I would recommend getting one for the smaller diameter stuff...it's a complete PITA to work with but the finished product is well worth it.

Have you tried the techflex ? This is the stuff I tried to use? I don’t mind spending extra if when there are bends in the harness the 25% overlap doesn’t bulge out ...
Thanks for answering !

I ended up with some techflex on one of the components I bought and threw it away. It's junk compared to the fabric loom and looks cheap to me. The ends fray and when you try to melt them with a heat gun or lighter to stop the fraying, it just melts together. The fabric loom has aprox 25% overlap as well, that's why it's such a pain to work with (especially the small diameter stuff). It bends easily and doesn't allow the wiring to come out. Plus when you cut it, just melt the end a little and you have a nice, crisp edge. If you buy a roll, you won't go back and you won't be sorry.

I like to use heat shrink when building looms from scratch. If I use techflex, I will either use heat shrink on the ends or a chemical tape that once activated its takes a razor blade to get it off. I have also wrapped looms in electrical tape for more factory look. It all depends on the job and budget.
