Finally got some new pics of some progress. Hopefully be doing some plumbing and setting up the oil tank next. Ordering the wheels this week, so should have some pretty good "stance" pics once they show up. Anyway, that's all for now.

Jeff....lookin' good.

Hey, maybe next year if our cars are done we can have a rematch of our famous race in that industrial park over by Gratiot. :D

Although I've seen what those LS7's can do. I'm gonna need some cars and a leave or no dice. :P

Thanks guys, appreciate the comments (except yours, savage, I mean, come on, can't you come up with a new name. You've had savage johnson since we were in 9th grade) Anyway, I'm sure you've all figured out that the brakes are C6 ZO6. If you do the math, even with the ats spindles, these things are very reasonable. I'll let you all know what it takes to mount the rears. We're in the middle of making mounts to use the factory ZO6 parking brake. Once there built we can produce the mounts for anyone that wants to run these breaks. I think I'll have around $3500 including the spindles in the whole setup! I know this is only my opinion, but I think these things are way cooler looking and probably better performing than most aftermarket setups out there for the same or probably less money. As far as the wheels go, I'm going with Boze alloys (ZE forged) "mesh" 3 piece, with black center. I know a lot of people are starting to think the black centers are starting to be played out, but I still think they will look the best.

Tony, sorry I missed you at that party saturday night. I got home with plans to come back and go, but just crashed once I got home. I was out there like 8 out of 9 nights-crazy. I don't even remember that race, who won? What were we driving? Anyway, I hope this things all it's cracked up to be, I think it will be. I got a ride in a Katech built ZO6 and although he couldn't really lay into it, it definetely felt impressive. How's your car coming?

The fact that you can get the complete C6 Z06 brake kit (front and rear), all new GM stuff, for less than $2K, is indeed pretty cool:

(2) 6 piston front calipers
(2) 4 piston rear calipers
(2) 14 inch front rotors
(2) 13.4 inch rear rotors
(12) front brake pads
(8) rear brake pads

Maybe can do even better from the GM parts counter, if you get all the PNs.

A quick search turned up this:

Looks great! What front sway bar is that and did it bolt right in?? I'm not having any luck finding Speedway's splined bar, anyone know if they still sell it?

I'm finally in the paint shop, Jeff. Should be done sometime in October. My suspension is finished and right now I'm going through all my interior components to find out what can be re-used, restored, or what has to be replaced.

Let me refresh your memory on that race, '89...you were driving a light blue Chevelle with graphics down the side and I was in my Camaro that was all in red primer. We were messin' with each other up and down the stretch and talkin' smack. We decided to go head to head and just happened upon this stretch of road that was to become an industrial park (it was off of 14 mile). In fact...out of curioisty I pulled up Google Maps and found it. It was called Lipke St. (http://www.google.com/maphp?hl=en&q=&ie=UTF8&z=16&ll=42.542283,-82.889292&spn=0.007351,0.014462&om=1) It's funny, I can't remember our anniversary or people's birthdays but I can remember stuff like this like it was yesterday.

Oh....and I won by the way. :D

The sway bar is a speedway bar. The sway bar itself pretty much bolted in, we just welded some plates where it mounted to the bottom side of the frame for a little extra support. The real job was getting the bars that go to the control arms to clear everything. We had to cut off the factory stop that the lower control arm rubber bumper hits and move them to the back side of the frame, thankfully the detroit speed control arms have mounts for the rubber bumper on the front and back of the arm. Then the bars had to be double bent to clear the tire. I think the sway bar is my favorite part of the car. It came out sweet.... Hey Tony, I still don't remember, all I can say is that it must of been before I pulled the 283 out of it  Of course I think we all really only remember the ones we won. I didn't get serious until my 68, the 67 was just a highschool toy. :P Sounds like your car will be done for spring. Are you thinking at all about Autorama? I'm shooting for that, but I think it will be a long shot. Kind of depends on when it finally gets to paint. Later

Jeff...you probably don't remember because it was no big deal, I think I won by a bumper or something. We were just kids out having fun on a Saturday night on Gratiot. Those were the days. And yeah, I think you did have a 283 in it. However, not long after that my car went into moth balls and since then you've owned a number of different (and faster) cars. This one should be fast as hell. LS7...forget about it...that's a monster of an engine.

Autorama 2008 is my goal. I'll be a "car groupie" yet again at the '07 show.
