The ‘Battle of the bulge’ was big on this car...could be part of the reason.

Ugh that's not for me. I know it'll be fast, turn flat, be loud, make mochas etc. etc. but there's just too much JC Whitney on it for my tastes. I'm sure the Shelby fan boys will go through a few gallons of Prell when it hits dealerships.

“The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Could Get a Manual If Customers Want It
Right now, the new GT500 will only come with a dual-clutch transmission. But, the head engineer of Ford Performance won't rule out the possibility of a manual in the future.”

I am a fan! Its visually very aggressive and has a nice stance. time will tell on performance numbers but I imagine Ford worked pretty hard to make it a strong competitor.

No offense and I mean this in the friendliest way possible but you pretty much have to be a ford hater through and through to not like this car so far. Its right in line with all of the rest of fords designs and its no more plastic that any challenger or camaro. In my opinion, its still better looking proportionally than the competition.

Maybe I missed it, but I did not see anything official from Ford today regarding weight...

Yeah, same here. I'm on the lookout for the curb weight.

Hey, I'm all for some big hips, my V weighs 4200 plus me (all 175 lbs) and I run low 10.20's till I heat soak. I'm also not brand loyal- I have GM and FoMoCo rides. I just think they tried too hard to make it look bad ass and ended up looking like a JC Whitney catalog after the great job Ford did on the 2017 GT 350 which is an absolute killa ride without overdoing it. My .02

Someone posted that they said over 3800 today at the PC.

A former Ford engineer said the target was 3900 and the car still has to finish emissions/OBD certification, so that’s why no final power numbers yet either. He also said they tested cars that were making over 800 fwhp, but the rest of the driveline couldn’t support it.

Edit: Just watched Carl Widmann, the Chief Engineer for Ford Performance, say among other topics covered, that the above numbers wouldn’t be finalized until this fall.

This is all i've seen, and ofcourse not official but power etc seems to line up.

I like the look, i'm told the aero is optional so I wouldn't tick that box myself. Bad part about this car will be the price. I'm betting this will sticker in the 75k range and dealer markups will be wild for a while. That combined with no manual option is enough to keep me out of it.

wow 4200 lbs. new camaro reported to be less than 3600. even with less than 700 hp, it would greatly outperform mustang in acceleration and cornering. so much for advancing the pony car at ford.

I really HATE getting caught up in all of the speculation. Ford has released no data other than round about numbers. I highly doubt ford is taking this one lightly when working to make this car competitive with the competition. Even if the weight of this car is 4200lbs, that is with all of the creature comforts that anyone "racing" it wouldn't want anyway. Most "supercars" weigh in the same range. I know this is a mustang not a supercar but my point is that I will hold final judgement for the actual numbers and not what rumor says. my guess is that many will be surprised by the performance of this car.
