Well, the engine is in ...All went well except for a few glitches. The drivers side header is tight, but not really all that bad going in...the power steering pulley (March Ultra Front Mount) is making slight contact with the steering gear ( I may be able to slightly notch the steering gear housing). The RJ intake is NO WHERE NEAR clearing the steel cowl hood. I cut the sub-structure out of the hood where I needed to but am still 1 7/16 to high...ANY SUGGESTIONS??? I want to stay away from a taller cowl, and don't want to cut a hole in the hood Right now I'm contemplating having the intake runners shortened...the driveshaft is about two inches too long. I'll try to post a pic or two but think they're too big (1GB).

I'm hoping nobody told you it might clear, because as you've seen it will not. The second gens have no hood clearance to begin with, then add a big block and Ramjet and it gets silly.

You can cut the runners down but doubt you can get it anywhere near low enough to clear; problem gets worse the further forward you go. Maybe have a lower profile plenum made that bolts to the runners.

I would bolt on a L-88 style hood or scoop.

No, nobody told me it would...and I knew it would be an issue...just hard headed :D I've cut the sub-structure out of the hood and still need an inch and seven sixteenths as mentioned. I'm going to take an inch and a half out of the runners...that's about max before you start running into clearance problems with the fuel rail.

I'm trying to stay with the cowl hood :(

when you alter the intake it will change the performance of the motor. You will also need to have it re-tuned. I would look at changing the intake to something lower profile or have one custom built.

I would say lower the motor in the car by goint to the shorter style mounts, but then you will run into header and oil pan clearance problems.
