Our beloved lab Macy had to be laid to rest today....
Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was her AKC name, she was born on Thanksgiving day '04

Simply the best dog i've ever had. She mostly was my wifey's dog, but she was sweet well behaved and the best chocolate lab i could have ever asked for...

she will be missed by us tremendously.....

Sorry Mike. Never a good day. Putting my dogs down was gut wrenching, still miss them today. She looks like an amazing dog. Labs are great pets.

I hope tommorow is a better day for you guys.

Take care.

Sorry to hear that Mike. Nearly 14 is a pretty good age for a lab. She was obviously well cared for. My thoughts are with you guys.

Sorry to hear about your family's loss Mike. Especially with a Chocolate.

Mine's coming up on 10 years in Oct. Seems like yesterday he was a little pup, time flies. I can't imagine not having him around. He's my shadow that goes everywhere with me, judging eyes and all.

Worst day of dog ownership for sure. As said you had 14 years with a loving companion and cared for her greatly i can tell.

Give it time, then give another dog a happy home in her memory.

I have a couple pups by comparison and already cant imagine the day we have to say goodbye :(

May she play at the rainbow bridge with all her friends.

Gawd, that sucks. 14 years is a good, long, happy life, and you have all those terrific memories, but "that day" is the worst.
We had to let our Bull Terrier go about a year ago & I still think of him almost daily.

Condolences.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We have a yellow lab that is 12-1/2 years old and I dread that day. Our girl is like yours, the best dog you could ask for. You'll meet again on the Rainbow Bridge.

Man, that sucks and is such a gut wrenching thing to do. I've had to do that twice before, both were excellent goldens with great personalities. I don't think it gets any easier and I cherish the time I have with Cosmo!

Godspeed to her Mike. Sorry for your loss. Dogs are special people. When I put my yellow down a couple years ago, the vet told me that while it's extremely hard to do so, it's our duty as their friend and caretaker to know when it's time and to make the transition as comfortable as possible. My best to your family.

After we lost Gizmo, our Chocolate Lab, there hasn't been another dog in our lives. He was 14 when he passed in the night, 5yrs ago. I've owned a lot of great dogs but he was unmatched.
Very sorry for your loss, Mike.

So sorry to hear Mike!

As you know - we have TWO Chocolates and they are, as you've pointed out -- the sweetest ever.

We had two Beagles - a brother and sister - 16 years... "I" said -- NO MORE DOGS!!

Then Gwen showed up with Stella....

My point? Give it a bit - and then share your love with a new best friend.

Sorry to hear this. My pit bull Ceaser passed away in October of last year to cancer and man did it hurt. I had him since he was a pup and picked him out of the litter myself about a week after he was born in 2004. He was 13. I never forget the dat I brough him home, my wife was so mad and the next thing you know...he became her dog and the two were inseparable.

Condolences.....................it's the absolute toughest decision one has ever had to make. The years of companionship pay dividends beyond compare. It's impossible not to be hurt, and perhaps a bit selfish.

My thoughts are with you and your family

Sorry for your loss, Mike. I'm an animal lover and this is, as mentioned, the hardest thing for us to do. I'm glad you had her for so long.

Once again, thanx everybody for the kindness. I will see "her" around the house for quite some time. Wifey and I are off to Belize, we will most likely have a new pup in the house by the end of fall since we're both major dog lovers.....

golden retriever my choice, white/golden english lab hers (oh the hair, 100x worse that the golden, and like our Tucker we had to lay down two years prior)

We humans, why do we keep doing this to ourselves? Love...

just saw this, so sorry for your loss.

I am currently struggling with putting my boy Kipper down, he's 14 and is really having a hard time getting around. I've already put it off several weeks and trying to come to terms with it.

We are all blessed to have Dog's in our lives with the short time we get, they are so loyal.

Thank you for posting, it made a difference to me.

Mike I am so sorry to hear this. Hope you all are dealing with it the best you can. They can never be replaced and will always hold a special place in your heart. I still miss Steve everyday and it's been almost three years.

Sad to hear - when you guys are ready, consider a rescue pup/dog - we poked around a rescue a few months back and ended up with a sweet little gal that has been an amazing addition to our home

I'm thinking rescue dog, wifey wants english lab (again) or golden retriever.

Missing her alot, i was in Belize vacationing last week and came home to an empty house, we still see her....either way, thanx all for your thoughts
