Hi guys,

What is the exact spline count on the factory steering column of a 76 T/A? I'd assume it would be the same for any 2nd gen but I've been wrong before using that logic. To clarify, what is the spline of the output shaft that the steering coupler connects to? I just walked outside and I counted 46.

Before I place the order to DSE for their coupler the work with their front sub frame I want to be confident I'm correct. On their website it clearly states that the purchaser is expected to have knowledge of the spline before placing the order.

Thank you,
Andrew

Update: It's a 1 inch 48 spline.

Remember to include or count the ridges making up the flat spot.

46 + 2 =

be very very careful to not push up on the steering column shaft when installing a universal joint. The slip joint inside has only a very thin plastic pin to keep it from sliding and any force can shear it off.
