recently the idea of actually racing my car on a track has become very attractive to me. i did some research, and decided that i would like to pursue racing for fun.
does anybody know of any good brands of SA approved helmets, and where i could get them. the only information ive really found about what makes one helmet better than another is just weight... so any other info would be great.
thanks!

arai makes a really nice car helmet, but they are $700, just get one with vents in it, it will make a good differnece on a hot day, if there aren't many vents you are going to be sweating big time
oh yeah.....if you are just doing trackdays that is not considered racing ;)

Bill Simpson has a new company (he no longer owns Simpson Racing) called Impact!
The stuff looks really nice. But like any helmet fit is the most important thing. If the shape of your dome dosen't match the shape of the helmet keep looking. Helmets are not something you want to treat as an afterthought and not something you should scrimp on.

Bell, simpson, imact and g-force are all good helmets I've had many bell and simpsons and liked them all , I would definetly try one on before buying , they all feel alittle different and you want one that fits you best .

....then you'll want to limit your choices to helmets that are HANS (or similar device) compatible. It won't be long before they are required equip.
