I've been trying to help my uncle buy a 1969 Camaro for the past year. Every time we find a solid car with a decent price. we call the owner and all is good until he hits us with that "my name is not under the title". Have you guys ever had this problem? Seems like every car I see on craigslist the person selling it is not the owner. Which is a red flag to me. Just had to get that off my chest. happy holidays :hello:

its common, craigslist is the land of flippers. cars bought and sold with in a few hours or days.
Try an auction if he is looking for a finished car.

When I traded my chopper for a H1, I left the title open because I planned on selling it. The guy who bought the H1 took a loan out for the truck, and the title name had to match the check. So I put the truck in my name to sell it.
Just a flip...

Typical flipping procedure.... avoids paying sales taxes etc. and no delay on waiting to get the title back to resell.
I've run into this on all types of selling platforms- eBay, Craigslist, in person.
My last car purchase was from an in-state individual and he had an open title. I didn't have any issues getting it titled and registered.

I agree. Yeah, that's what I was thinking too an auction. But we're looking for a project car. finished cars are no fun.
