I am in mock up phase on my 66 Chevelle and need some opinions. I was going to run a 335/30/20 in the rear, but after setting it in there, it is a little tight for my liking and am now thinking of running a 325/25. This will give me roughly a 1/4" less in width and 1.5" shorter, which might work out a little better? my other concern is that I gong with a 255/35/19 in the front which works fine, but now I'm wonder if I should go with a 30 series up front in order to keep an 1.5" differential between the front and the rear? or does it really matter???
Looking for opinions.....

I am not a fan of 25 series tires on these old cars, I like a little more sidewall. Rule of thumb is that you should never have more sidewall on the front than the back regardless of wheel diameter.

Your 66 is minitubbed, correct? If so, are you locked in on running 20" rears? If not, have you considered a 325/30/19?

dhutton, I agree with you on that, I am not that crazy about a 25 series either.
USAzr1, it is mini tubbed. I did kind of want to stick with a 20" on the rear, the tire height does not bother me so much, but the width is a little more than I am comfortable with on the 335. which is why I am thinking of going to a 325/30. what is your thought/suggestion on a 19"?

A 325/30/20 is 27.7" tall and a 255/35/19 is 26" tall so you would have a 3.5" sidewall in front and 3.85" in the rear. A 325/30/19 is 26.6" which would give you a 3.8" sidewall. Pretty much a wash,IMO, so if you prefer a 20" rear, that's the way I would go,too.
FWIW, I have 20x10's with 305/30/20's on the rear of my 70 so I like that diameter wheel, also. 18x8 fronts with 255/35/18 rubber.
