I owe you guys some updates but my car is currently at paint/body and I have to get some quick answers back to my guy on a couple spots.

First is the side window channels. Can you guys confirm everything looks correct here? I have my drip rails shaved so I think thats why it looks a bit different. He just wanted me to confirm that I didn't need to change anything here before spraying...

And second is the dash area above the glove box and ash tray. I am assuming that all of these holes were there for the wood trim piece from the factory along with the grab rail and the smallest holes for the emblem. I just need to let him know if these need to be welded up. I don't plan on using the factory wood grain piece or the grab rail. Sorry this isn't the greatest picture.

You need to weld up holes in dash if your not using wood grain and handle on dash and side channels look ok to me.

ditto on the dash, but it looks like the channel reinforcement is not installed. Its a small piece of metal that is spot welded from the channel to the roof rail. Most people never reinstall them after changing quarters.

I was thinking the same on the reinforcements.

Thanks guys! So I'm guessing the channel reinforcements aren't needed?

My opinion, the channel supports ARE needed because they help avoid fatigue cracking the quarter panel skin at the back where the corner exists. I have seen more than one 1st Gen crack there.., the crack usually migrates downward from the very back corner.
For what it is worth, we welded the brackets in Strong on my 572ci. 68 Camaro. And THEN weld reinforced the corner where cracking can initiate. Then we radiused the corner just a bit to avoid a crack initiation site.
So.., you have an awesome car. Install the channel supports and be done with it.

Does this make sense?

Here's an example of the cracking we are trying to avoid on your car. Look closely under the trim and you can see a crack progressing downward. This is why I would install the corner reinforcements. Your car is WAY TO NICE to have this happen.

Regarding the dash, all of the holes on the upper slopped piece in line with the large rectangular opening will be covered by the dash pad. You would only need to fill holes on the lower portion
