It looks like my dad got the bug. We bought a 57 Chevy last weekend and he plans to have it finished by Good Guys Columbus 07 or at least that is the current goal.
here are the specs:
Jim Meyer Complete Chassis w/ Wilwood brakes
Street & Performance Fuel injected ls6 Zo6 405 hp
Street & Performance ac, alt, ps and water pump
Street & Perfromance Chrome plated brackets and acc serpentine set up.
4l60e Automatic Transmission
Strange 9" Third member, 3.70 posi
Vintage air poilshed ac condensor
Polished cross flow radiator
Rock Valley Stainless Fuel Tank in intank pump
Billet Specialties Chicanes 18" front and 20" rear
Nitto 235/40/zr18 front and Nitto 305/40/20 rear
All the original chrome was re-plated at sherms in California.
Pinkees Rod Shop in Windsor Colorado hand fabricated the center console, inner fender panels, firewall, mounted master under the dash, installed the Ididit tilt column, Lokar shifter and brake lines. They also repaired any rust and replaced with new metal.
Underneath the car is lined with Superliner.

I almost bought that thing off ebay. If I was not trying to finish my truck, I was gonna partner up to finish it. That 57 had everything it seemed like and was done very well.
Good luck with the project. Should be a nice ride.

That car has been in the making for awhile. I met the guy who was building it at SEMA 2003 when I had mine there. He asked if I would be interested in it. I almost bought it as well, but didn't want to build another 57 at the time. He obviuosly ended up keeping it and had Pinkee's do some work on it. Not sure why he decided to sell again. Nice to know it will be finshed off the way it should be. Keep us posted as progress continues.

but the renderings are of a 56 not a 57. I assume that you like the style, stance and color.
I think that 57 y'all will be doing is going to be great. A post car is much more solid and you will not have the wind noise of a hardtop.

Yep we like the look of the renderings. Vic Edlebrock did a 57 a few years back and removed some of the side Trim and we are considering doing the same.
I dropped off some pics with Bob Thrash so he could do a couple renderings for us. Looking forward to seeing what he comes up with.

congrats syborg, good to see the car is in your "family". I saw it at the Good Guys event in loveland and spoke with the owner at length, Then Eric of Pinkies....
If I had not just bougth a mint 57' nomad project I would have bit on your car..that sheet metal work in the engine compartment combined with the 29' they built has convinced me they will be running plumming and bending the sheetmetal on my car..
here is a link to another local car. very subtle changes but the 210 trim looked refreshing after seeing Bel Airs all the time. I still haven't decided what trim to leave and what to remove but I do know the bumber bolts will be smoothed an the front fender "stick on's" will be dumped.

Sorry to hi jack the thread, but have to give my .02 on Bruce's car. I agree. Bruce's 55 is the nicest overall 55 to be built at this time. Both Bruce (owner)him & Steve Cook (builder) are real nice guys as well. Pics don't do the car any justice. There was so much thought that went into that car. One car that other tri fives will be compared to for sometime, much like Scott Sullivan's that was built almost 20 yrs ago, back in 1988, that is still awesome by today's standards.
Marty-
No doubt the 57 is in good hands. It will be nice to see it finished it off as well if not better than it was started.

The Guy's worked the inner/inner fenders to fill the void looking through the grille.

i am real lucky to have coustomers like marty " mo " ( inside joke )and marty sr . these guys are real car people . it helps as a builder to have these type of owners that will let you add ideas to the project and spend the cash when the car need a quality part . as we discussed the car the with marty1 and 2 we all seem to be headed in the same direction with what we want the car to be .
i can say this next year at indy we will be there in force ! the 57 ,the 41 , the 33 ,and the syborg s-10.

Kenny decided it would be easier to fix the panhard bar by relocating it to a better location. It would make running the exhaust a little easier

we have about 30hrs in the front bumper alone . we removed about 1.25 in from the width of the front bumper and made it 1 piece and removed the " bullets " and the recesses under the bulletts . then we metal finished the bar because it will be chrome so it had to perfectly straight . then we lazer cut some new bumper mount that are smooth and weld to the rear of the bar .
now we do the same on the rear bumper ,it not going to be as easy as the front .
then it ready for paint

that is one killer looking car, Here in my hometown of Harrison, Arkansas, there was a 57 2-door post sitting in a barn on the way to my dads, it sat there for about 15 years until last monday, some hillbillies decided that they needed it more, and stole it. They made it maybe an hour and were arrested on the spot, i don't know why i told that story, but the car is super solid, and i keep getting the same "we're gunna rebuild it," yeah and moses sailed across the ocean with columbus to discover our NEW land

They said "No Problem" They have got to be one of the best vendors i've worked with. I look forward to using there product on future projects.

Material choices are perfect! Not the usual every car look. Like the finished off underdash. I hate seeing anything hang below dash. Headliner treatment is also nice. Fit and wrinkle free panels look amazing. Now get rid of that Lokar Shifter handle, just too average for that car. Gennie makes adapters.
