Well I'm not up to my 5th gen camaro news but I'm here at work (a Television Newstation) one of the producers told me that on NBC newswire, it was said that Chevrolet has confirmed production of the Camaro as early as 2008.

Can't wait.

I just read the script and we just pulled the video here at work. It's from the Detroit free press.

-GM CEO expected to make an announcement this week
-GM plans to offer new models with V-6 and V-8 engines
-GM hopes the new camaro will provide a boost to its line of passenger cars.
-It could be available in dealer showrooms by 2008

I copied this word for word from the news packet.

Good news! I dont know if it will help turn them around much, but it is good to see them sticking with their core brand names and classic models!

It's about time they get back into the game!! Just hope they aren't too late! I think they should have went with even a more retro look though, people want a '69 camaro!! If they just would have built Kris' rendering everything would be perfect!

I think the new Challenger is more of what people were expecting when they heard GM was going to build a retro Camaro.

Either way I'm glad they decided to try...just wish they would have been out sooner for a better head to head with the Mustang....

I heard Thursday was the day Wagoner is giving the press conference...should be interesting. This is probably no more than spectulation but I heard they are considering 3 general powerplants: one V6 and two V8's. Check out www.5thgen.org or www.gminsidenews.com for more info.

If what I'm hearing about Challanger is true, then we'll HAVE to offer the LS7 in the Camaro.

An LS7 would be awesome but Chevy has made it pretty clear in the past that the Vette will stay on top as far as hp and performance. It's probably a safe bet that one of the V8's will be the 5.3 DOD engine, the other is anyone's guess.

Well they could easilly offer an LS7 with a slightly different state of tune that put's it's output below that of the ZO6. In similar fashion as Porsche offering the Cayman with more power than a Boxster, yet a bit less than a 911.

V8s will probably be a 5.3L base and the new LS3 (6.2L) being the performance version.

If that's true then I bet we see the LS7 conversion kits out any day now...

I'm guessing there will be 3 engines as well....but I don't think that 5.3 will be one of them. For sure there will be a V6 (you have to have that one). The next will be LS2. And lastly, a dialed down LS7. Corvette will probably see a significant horsepower upgrade when Camaro debuts and right about that time we should see a new powerplant going into Z06 to distance itself from the LS7 Camaro.

Of course these are just guesses.
