Hey guys,

Am looking for a 69 pro touring camaro. Found one on ebay and he wants $35k, which I think is right, but I am new to this. Take a look at the link below and let me know if it sounds like a good deal. I am attempting to get an inspection done since I am in Louisiana and the car is in Colorado.

Thanks,

Matt

Looks pretty good 35K isnt bad for a car that is complete. I have spent that on mine and it is only 1/2 done.Just ask alot of questions as they come to you and if the seller gets upset then be careful .Good luck Scott.

I say that is a good deal as long as it truely is a turn key car. The custom interior is one of the first I can honestly say I like, as most are over the top/street rodded and not timeless enough for my tast. The car looks very clean and other than the paper top (I thought in 69 the paper didn't go all the way down to the gutters?) I like it a lot...also, I prefer a little wider rubber. All in all I say it's a good buy...it takes a lot more than that to build one of these cars!!

Let us know if you get it!!

It is a pretty nice car, and if YOU like it then by all means try. But I did notice you just made a post like 3 days ago saying you were now on the market. Don't feel like you have to have the car NOW!! There are alot out there and just shop around a bit until you fall in love with something, or you find something that you can build to what you can love.

Ok, not that I am any sort of expert, but here is what I see:

Body panels look ok… not great, but definitely not bad, at least in pictures. That hockey stick stripe is awful! It looks like they spent some nice money on the car, they could have stepped up an purchased a stencil kit for the stripe. Look at the bend at the top-front of the stripe, and the fact that the inner stripe doesn’t follow the same taper as the outer lines. There is also a few missing items like the door bumpers. Again, what bothers me here is the lack of detail, and my question on this would be weather or not this is indicative of the build.

Under the hood looks to be ok if a bit cluttered. On the other hand, this leaves you with plenty of “projects” to keep you having fun detailing the car. Again the thing that bothers me here is the apparent lack of detail. The missing dust shields stand out (wait to you see how much road dust can make its way into the engine compartment here!).

Interior looks plenty nice, though a little detail here would go a long way. It looks like the upper window blow-out guides are rusty. There is some chipped trim and crappy old weather stripping to account for.

The underside of the car seems to be just spray-bombed black, including the exhaust. The lack of things being blasted and painted nicely might also mean a bunch of old bushings in there too. Looks like he has installed the stock-style front discs, and a fairly run-of-the-mill rear disc conversion. Nothing wrong with this, but those discs will look a little small behind those big wheels.

All in all, if the body is solid, it looks like a decent car. If you aren’t one for an all out rebuild, it might be just the ticket. The few problems I see in the photos can be fixed by you over time, making the car more “yours” while you fix them. If it were me, I would go look at the car, and bring a VERY DETAILED check list. This way you don’t overlook something because the car “grabs you.” When I say detailed, I mean DETAILED! List every panel, inside and out with check boxes for rust, missing trim, weather stripping, grommets, etc. This also helps with the negotiations as you have a real reference to refer too, and can go back and show him everything you are talking about.

Hope this helps! Buying a finished car can be a great deal, but you can burn yourself quickly if you aren’t careful. Just ask me how I know! :D

I have decided to keep looking. No point in buying the first car I see. Thanks anyway.

If this is the car I am thinking of, I have seen this car in person at the shop my dad works at. If this is in fact the one I am thinking of, the LS1 swap was done by a shop called Zoomers in Denver, CO. When I saw this car, the car seemed to be an okay car. From what my dad tel lme the LS1 swap was the only thing the shop did, and who ever built the car prior had the wiring all screwed up which made the motor swap a bit difficult. And for what it is worth, the car was built for a kid. Hope this helps!

Weaver,
I'm not in love with the fit of the doors at all. Study those pictures carefully so that you will be better prepared during your search. The inferior fitment might just be an adjustment problem, or it could suggest bigger problems like improper installed door skins,or cheapo replacement tin.

The parts list is impressive, but don't let that cloud your judgement. The bolt-on stuff is a lower priority than bodywork and paint.

Good luck during your seach. Enjoy it and take your time.

Can't get the picture link to work. Look at picture of pass door looking forward to front fender. Study the alignment from the top to the bottom. Not good.
