Looking for some input on a good stainless header choice for a DSE subframe, LS engine, 2nd Gen Camaro. Love the DSE headers, but not the $2000 price tag. I believe these are made by stainless works?? Any one have any suggestions? Any experience with "Ultimate Headers"? Thanks!

I would not put ultimate headers on anything I own. I went through 3 sets before they fit. Every set had a different clearance issue. I have used stainless works and they were excellent.

The DSE headers are made by Pro-Fab in Concord NC.

American Racing Headers makes really nice stuff at a reasonable price. $1450 for a set 304S Stl and great collector design.

I had the Ultimate headers on my detroit speed subframe and they are very nice fit,I had one of the first set of long tubes they built.

I have a Stielow built LS9 on my 69 Z28 with a DSE subframe and Ultimate headers. I decided on these due to Mark using these on Hellfire with no issues.

I bought the ultimate mid-length headers. I liked the fit and added their extreme low profile clamps. Beautiful product never an issue. Most of the other headers I looked at hung too far below the subframe. But life is easy when you have a belly-button 67 Camaro.

We've put a few Ultimate Headers on, and sold many. Haven't had any complaints with fitment. I have a 69 here with a DSE sub, and those headers. Everything clears fine.

Thanks everyone!! I'm in the same boat: Second gen with DSE and LS7. Seems like the options are DSE/Stainless, Ultimate, Hooker and American Racing??
Seems like Ultimate and Hooker are priced about the same and if memory serves from previous threads there seems to be equal positive thoughts about both?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Thanks for the input everyone! I was leaning towards ultimate headers...also found the Hooker system that looks real nice..... wondered if anyone on the site has installed the complete (headers + pipes) for a second gen. The Holley/Hooker website shows the system installed.... Looks great other than cutting the trunk pan/DSE bracket for clearance.

I just installed the long tube Ultimate Headers on my 87 Buick Regal T-Type with an LS3 engine. They fit PERFECT. Using a lift and installed from beneath the vehicle took about 20 minutes. No need to raise the engine up from the mounts on either side. I love them. Rich

Have a set on 69 Chevelle LS3. Did not use the long tube as I want the exhaust tucked up nice and tight. Fit was fantastic, worth every penny.
