Seeing who else plans on attending Spring Spring. I'm going to do both days and right now the weather says low 70's which is perfect!

http://www.norcal-saac.org/springsprint/

This is also a great event for an introduction to road course as they offer the yellow group for $50 which gets you a coach all day. I did it last year and it helped greatly on a few turns.

I'll be with a buddy in a black Zl1 Vette, and a couple other regular Shelby Club guys.

When I say I'll be "there" the 18th --- that's the Holiday Inn in Willows..... If I get there early enough (driving from Sun Valley - to Portland - to Spray (Greys Guns) to Woodland to get my stuff from Charley's.......

I will be there from opening gate on the 19th.

Because I'm a shop "owner" --- I can access the track even if another event is running....but you won't be able to bring a trailer in until FRIDAY after about 4 ish.... if there's another event running. You can drop it out front of the gate and come in.

You have my phone???

$50? I looked and it is more like $450 for 2 days plus $20 for weekend membership.

It's the $450 for both days, I thought they had a 50 fee in addition for yellow group.

Come out I'm leaving super early Saturday morning if you want to ride up together. You're a road warrior ;)

Greg ill pm you numbers

I don't have the budget for it right now. I will probably run the SCCA Pro or the Lotus Club AutoX.

Honestly I get kinda scared on the big track. Too much time to think about what could go wrong, McKissack says you get use to it, but autoX is so fun because everything is happening at warp speed you can't think about anything else.

Craig next time! Let me know if you want to do Sonoma with hpde sometime.

I drive my car like an 18 wheeler truck so anything faster would be bad

I'm running HOD - Sonoma May 22nd.... we'll actually also be there for the weekend American Iron races.... that's right after I rented Thunderhill for a private "First Annual Defied Death Race"

Greg, what is this private track rental you speak of? I wish I could have been out huffing race gas exhaust this weekend, but I'm stuck at home replacing my front door, due to a bad reaction I had to locking myself out last week . . .

Hope all goes well on the track today!

I was shooting today -- leave monday for next weekends Shelby club event --
Private track day for the Text train. You're welcome to come hang -- but if you want to run - Additional cars over what I've already paid for are $600 for the ONE day.... I've already shelled out several thousand for this day and I'm not paying for more. Thus the Private part.

This thread is about NORCAL SHELBY Spring Sprint -- never meant to hijack it with "my stuff"..... I'll be there - and it will be the one year anniversary of the event I had come home from -- felt ill -- and you all know the rest.

The private track rental / track day.... I probably shouldn't have gone "public" with... but now that it's out there.... people have to understand what I've gone thru... and those who lived with me daily for the last 11 months. That is the infamous "text train clan". Rob - Dave - Sieg - Bob - Ron - Payton - Gaetano - Vince..... The train was started 2 or 3 years ago when Rob and Dave did the epic "Betsy" (old Ford ramp bed) East coast to West coast road trip..... it continues to this day 24/7.

We share a special bond - and without this "crew" being there in the darkest hours of my life - I would not have made it. Didn't matter where the conversation went (and goes) - this group was there for me. They were the ones that figured out my dosage - when and how to take "the stuff" -- and all flew/drove/gave up vacations, whatever, to be by my side. For the last 11 months thru hell and high water - they lived it with me.

This is a special time - for us all to get together and celebrate sunnier days ahead. Once again - they will give up a part of their time on this earth - to spend it with me (and each other) doing some fun stuff - instead of listening to me and my deepest thoughts.

While I'd love to invite everyone - and say -- you all bring your cars and we're going to do EPIC ****..... This time around (for track driving) - it's for the special "short bus" people. IF it works out and we do a SECOND ANNUAL -- we'll talk about "opening it up" to any and all and maybe getting a date for a weekend (really hard to do at Thill).

XOXO to all of you... and I hope you understand what this day means for "us". I invite ALL to come and hang.... We'll be on the WEST SIDE track - May 18th.

A mid-week track rental sounds pretty awesome; it's definitely a good way to save major dollars on track time. If only I could learn to read a calendar and know what day it is a few times a week . . .

I don't think renting a track for a day is about saving money..... but whatever.... LOL . I'd have preferred the East side 3 mile - but it's taken and there's just only so many dates the can work for all involved - Guys flying out from the east coast etc.... AND I have the 18th -- the 19th is an "OPEN TEST DAY" for the FIVE MILE -- a small fee and we're running Friday as well --- ROB is running American Iron at Sonoma over the weekend so we'll go drink beer and hang out there -- then I'm running with Hooked on Driving @ Sonoma on Monday..... SEAT TIME! I've been itching to get some work done on the nut behind the wheel. Straighten up, and see what needs to be done in the new shop space etc.

Did Chet ever rebuild after Sonoma?

For those who've never been to a NorCal event, it's worth making the trip. Besides the guys from this forum there's also a crowd that run in the Optima events as well. Fairlanes, wagons, Camaros new and old, mustangs new and old and always the guy or two with a C5... Great people and cars and a well run event.

Great weekend at Thunderhill ---- cars ran and worked fantastically well..... for whatever reason -- I was hauling the mail this weekend. Stuff was just clicking for me.

Got the shop (track side space) going a bit with tool box and compressor and a couple of racks to hold stuff.....

Got to hang with Nate a bit - always fun! The 12 hour drive home (750 miles) always sucks - and knowing I'm turning around and doing it again in a couple weeks didn't add to that "joy".... it's just the price you pay for having fun.

Wish more people from here joined in the fun == but oh well.....

All you had to do was ask....:D

Glad to hear the cars were working well, did you run the 06? Thoughts on that? The 750 mile drive sure beats the alternative, no bad days buddy!

Just buy it -- it's a great car and runs HARD...... slam some Hoosiers on it -- do some big bearings and a full floater rear end..... and track the crap out of it.

ride home solo? if so you are getting stronger and that's a great thing. Thunder hill is on my bucket list of tracks to run, the generous run offs looks newbie friendly. Make sure you or sieg take some pics of the short bus butt heads for the next go around

Nope --- took a buddy... for no other reason than he just got out of rehab -- and I have 32 YEARS of rehab.... so figured with him trapped in the car for hours on end it would be a good chance to discuss "life".... and how good it CAN BE. Was a good trip that included A LOT of driving.... some gun stuff (dropped off TWO HK VP9's at Grayguns in Spray, Oregon).... lots of winding roads... lots of shopping.... lots of "put your back in to it" (heavy stuff)... and it got him out of small town Eye De Ho....

NATE will show he's smart when he drops an LS 525hp Circle Track GM crate motor in the Found On Road Dead.... or he calls Ron Sutton and orders a motor from him.... EEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAA

well amigo sounds like you are back in the swing of things - your buddy trapped in the car with you for hours poor guy! - ha though its nice to share some time with like minded butthead(s)

heard of bruces work with sigs - getting trigger job on the HKs?

- speaking of which expect some pics of the on track off track shenanigans to come.

- funny on your motor suggestion for nate - I'm stuck between going b*lls out on a motor for the 69 or just leaving it alone and go buy a c5z instead. Not necessarily a new idea but i'd be less heartbroken crashing it (on track -an eventuality) than the 69 lol

Full make over on both the VP9's (1 normal model and 1 "Tactical" model/suppressed). Trigger work - trigger guard work - Dawson fiber front sights with battle sight rears. I use the normal model for IDPA matches... until my Wilson EDC X9 arrives, if ever. Did that one in Burnt bronze and black. We'll see if I like it. Damn hard to order something you've never touched. But I have to trust Bill. If it shoots like my Professional.... I'll win a match or two.

Dip**** I took on the road trip fell off the wagon already. Go figure. So many just waste their lives.... Oh well. Not my problem. :catfight: :hitaxeonthehead: :EmoteClueless: :smiley_smack: :drowninga: :badidea:

Bummer about the guy falling back into it.. that's disappointing.

In other news motor is ordered - 410 Dart, Scat internals, AFR headed motor coming soon.

I'm pulling the old motor next week and got a rush on everything else to get it built and back together for mini-nationals.

I didn't know Lat G had a Jerry Miculek "jr" in house, those Wilson pistols certainly are works of art. If you don't like it, I've got a crispy $50 to take it off your hands.

Sorry to hear about your bud falling off the wagon, each day certainly is a battle.
