Hello, I am planning how the weight will be distributed on my car. If possible, I would like some information on the weight of various componants.

What is the weight for a sbc with Aluminum Heads/Iron Block?

What is the weight of the different accesories? a/c compressor, Power steering pump, Alternator

What is the weight of a sbc AL. block/AL. heads?

What is the weight of a BBC with Iron block/Al heads?

What is the weight of a BBC with AL block/AL heads? (World products says 471 pounds, does this sound right with most AL BBC blocks)

What is the Front/Back weight distribution (in %) of a 69 Camaro with a sbc, Fe block and AL Heads?

Same question sbc AL Block, AL heads?

Same question BBC Fe Block, AL heads?

Same question BBC Al block, Al Heads?

Assume Standard Mounting location of the engine

Does the type of transmission have any real impact on the ratio?

Big block is 750 lbs

aluminum heads save about 50 lbs

small block 550 or 575

aluminum heads save 30 to 35 lbs

ls1 fully dressed is 450 lbs

457.6 lbs, LS1 auto; 497.2 lbs, LS1/LS6 manual

BBC & SBC

Weights are from carb to oil pan with HEI dist, harmonic balancer, and iron water pump.

SMALL BLOCK
All iron small block 520 lbs.
Alum heads w/iron small block 480 lbs.
All alum motor 389 lbs.

BIG BLOCK
All iron BB 754 lbs.
Alum heads with iron block 660 lbs.
All alum BB 501 lbs.

Interesting. I'm guessing that the difference in LS1 weights are due to flex plate versus flywheel? Also, from the weights comparison, I'd guess that the SBC's don't include the weight of the flywheel?

Does anyone design their cars for 50/50 weight ratio?

If so, how does one go about accurately measuring it?

I'm really interested in building it, "as right as possible".

Based on the stock first gen design, what would you do to increase it's cornering ability other than putting excellent tires on it, and lowering the suspension?
