What the consensus on thermal protection for the floor. I have already put Dynamat Extreme on for sound deadening. Now I need to move on to heat insulation since the headers and exhaust are tucked up within 1/2" - 1" of the floor.
Manufacturers use more shielding products outside the cabin than in. Take a look at the auto product offerings here https://www.heatshieldproducts.com/automotive/auto-heat-shield-guide it may give you some ideas.
Air space and air flow are your friend.

That's a lot of components. Is there a 60s-70s Camaro or Firebird build on here with the stuff that sticks to the bottom of the car? I'd like to see how it holds up.
I've heard good things about DEI heat shield.

I don't have any first hand experience with it.

HushMat # 20300. I think it comes in 1/2" thick pieces the ones I'm referring to.

I have that stuck to the bottom of a customers 69 Camaro for nearly 5 years now.....still there. Have had the trans out a couple of times in it wasn't sagging anywhere.
I use that with DEI UnderCarpet lite and it works pretty well.

I used a bunch of the DEI heat shield on my fire wall, transmission tunnel and fuel tank. Good stuff. Has held up well for almost 4 years. I used the tape they sell to seal the edges and seam. It looks very OEM and does a good job of keeping the heat out.

I've used the DEI product also, have about 1500 kms and no issues, sealed the edges also and was stuck to a newly painted surface underneath.

That does look like a nice product however it installs on the Exterior. I wouldn't want to see that on my firewall. If I used it, I would do the trans tunnel. Kinda out of sight. Just my .02

I used a second skin audio product. Heat wave maybe? Worked like a champ. My right heel used to get hot through my shoe from the collector and it totally cured that. Foil on both sides, jute-like material in the middle.

I put it up the inside of the firewall too, but the header/heel issue was a better example of how well it works. Others that buy better headers won't need the floorpan covered, which is good cause it's pretty thick.

Do you recall how much of it you used? It comes in sheets 4'x6'

Neoprene works very well under the carpet and at firewall. Jute is also great thermo isolation, just looks old school and hard to come by now days. There are neoprene rolls even with one side shielded with tin foil and adhesive on the other. Just gotta look at different surplus places and suppliers...

Sorry, just saw this question. It's been a while so I don't remember exactly. I don't think it was more than one sheet because I bought a Scrap the shop had laying around. 4x6' covers a big area on these smallish cars. If I pull the carpet out I'll let you know for sure. I was focused on the drivers pedal box area and the firewall directly behind/above the engine/trans.

Can I revive this to see if anyone has delved into the aerogel option? Scientifically it has some of the most impressive heat dispersing properties. The C7 uses it on the tunnel
