Freakin Mouse

So I bought a new house and in the process of fixing it up and moving I asked a friend if I could park one of my cars over at their house. Three weeks into this I stopped by today to check on the car and when I opened the trunk...Freakin Mouse crap!

What's the best way to get rid of em? I put traps with peanut butter and will check again tomorrow.

A buddy has great success with the cheap presliced cheese. Put gloves on when you're dealing with the trap and bait to mask your scent. I'd also NOT put the traps in the car, draw them out.

I've had fun, I mean success, with glue traps in my garage. Mice supposedly like to run on the borders of whatever spaces they inhabit--there's that and just being ready at the entry point (with glue).

Really, if possible, use Dan's cat suggestion. After all the mice that seemed to have come with last winter's rain (they like my attic and my garage), I've found brand-new respect and love for cats as useful members of society. We've got some feral cats nearby; I seem them as unpaid security guards these days. If I see a cat every couple of days, I neither hear nor see mice.

Use bounce dryer sheets .....must be bounce ..any scent . There's something about them that mice don't like ....then toss some traps away from the car . Car will smell nice and mice will be away from it dead in the traps

+1 on the dryer sheets. Also flip the sun visors down so they don't get up in the headliner.

Two things that work EXCEPTIONALLY WELL:

1) Spray the area down thoroughly with indoor / outdoor Spectracide insect killer. The little !@#$%^&* varmits lick their feet and then die.

2) Electronic pest control - run an extension cord into the area to be protected, plug in a unit of your choice.

Done!

BTW - vegetable oil is the release agent for the glue traps...

I know it has nothing to do with my new Wilwood dual master cylinder installation, but I'm really liking this thread--there's some great info here. I've never heard of the Bounce or vegetable oil ideas, nor the insecticide thing (got plenty of that down). Let's get more ideas here!:warning:

I never heard about wearing gloves for the traps...good info to know.

So, what about a gardeners snake? Wouldn't one of those bad boys be just fine in the trunk vs. a cat? How do I get my hands on one of those?

Don't put a snake in your trunk...or a cat. If it were me, I'd leave the hood and trunk open and the garage lights would stay on. I'd be looking for other areas of the garage that show signs of the critters and place the traps there. Maybe one inside the car up against the rocker and seat.

I worked for some friends parents and witnessed what mice can do when not dealt with right away. They had nested under the hood of a Bentley Azure and caused all sorts of electrical problems, to the point the car wouldn't drive. That was an easy fix...:G-Dub:

If the car is complete and a driver, I'd be spending the money NOW on a professional. If its still a project, see above.
