Hey everyone, my names Jake and I'm from Perth, Australia. Been lurking on Lateral G for about a year now which has ultimately inspired me to turn my tough street car into a proper pro tourer.

I purchased the car with a 502 BBC, T400, moser 9" and a few other bits and pieces, it's an honest car but not really what i thought it would be so I've bit the bullet, taken a deposit for the motor and box and started tearing it down.

The new setup will be an LS3 / TR6060, Brand new subframe with all the fruit, torque arm rear suspension, wilwood 6 / 4pot brakes and a 285 / 335 wheel and tyre combo along with a bunch of other little things to suit ( mini tubs, flat firewall, wilwood pedal box, VDO gauges, AAW wiring loom etc )

The exterior will stay is for now, i plan to track this car at so i wont go dumping thousands into body work only to end up in a sandtrap / wall testing the limits of the car.

Motor and box have been sold and are due to be picked up this weekend, so the car currently looks like this...

http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/jaba3112/Camaro%20Build/download%203_zpsg4exlfxv.png (http://s1228.photobucket.com/user/jaba3112/media/Camaro%20Build/download%203_zpsg4exlfxv.png.html)
http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/jaba3112/Camaro%20Build/download%204_zpsxpre7fnk.png (http://s1228.photobucket.com/user/jaba3112/media/Camaro%20Build/download%204_zpsxpre7fnk.png.html)

I've also stripped the interior out, started removing all the sound deadner and seam sealer from the floor to check for any rust.

http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/jaba3112/Camaro%20Build/download%201_zpslsa7asjx.png (http://s1228.photobucket.com/user/jaba3112/media/Camaro%20Build/download%201_zpslsa7asjx.png.html)

Found one little patch so far in the rear D/S foot well which hopefully isnt too much worse than whats pictured.

http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/jaba3112/Camaro%20Build/download%205_zps726ukagr.png (http://s1228.photobucket.com/user/jaba3112/media/Camaro%20Build/download%205_zps726ukagr.png.html)

The only other area that needs some attention is the very top corner on the P/S, the floor is attached to the sill panels which have been abused on this car, causing the floor to come away from the sill seam when it was bent by a jack, stand etc. So that will need a bit of massaging and welding.

http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/jaba3112/Camaro%20Build/download%206_zpshcanwqdo.png (http://s1228.photobucket.com/user/jaba3112/media/Camaro%20Build/download%206_zpshcanwqdo.png.html)

Other than that the floors seem super solid and it has had a new boot floor put in at some stage so its all good.

Will attack it with a wire wheel to bring it all back to bare metal, undercoat, dynamat, underlay and then finally new carpet will go in.

My big shipment of parts will be ordered beginning of next week and surprisingly it was only an extra $200 to ship the whole crate by air compared to sea, so it will be here in December rather than March, hopefully Christmas comes early :D

Pretty excited to actually build a car, the way I want it with hopefully little paid work.

My time frame is around 4 months as there is an event as the beginning of March i'd love to get too.

You've got a great car to start out with, it's gonna be fantastic when you complete your plans for it.

Cheers guys!

Motor is finally out and gone!

Also received my fuel system parts from Summit today.

http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/jaba3112/Camaro%20Build/IMAG0360_zpsr1muki5y.jpg (http://s1228.photobucket.com/user/jaba3112/media/Camaro%20Build/IMAG0360_zpsr1muki5y.jpg.html)

Aeromotive phantom 340 in tank fuel system to suit the carby style ricks tank. And a corvette regulator / fuel filter combo with - 6 fittings on each end.

Super impressed with the quality and finish of the pump system and it is quite a nice unit. The kit includes pre filters, foam baffling to avoid fuel surge and is completely universal as long as your fuel tank is between 5.5" - 11" deep.

This particular single pump model is good for up to 850HP N/A or 700HP FI, which should be plenty for now, if not its quite simple to swap to the dual pump 1200HP units.

http://www.verociousmotorsports.com/am_18688_v1.jpg

Plan is to run braided line from the pump to the regulator, and hardline the rest of the way to the fuel rail.

My rear floor pan is also on the way so the metalwork will begin shortly. Not sure what to do for the firewall at the moment, would like some kind of beadrolled shape but unsure of what will look tidy without being to complicated or over the top.

Unfortunately ran into more rust with this thing after deciding to investigate what was hiding underneath these horrible patch panels.

http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/jaba3112/15184074_1254048491328305_1420494466_o_zpswoqnvdog .jpg (http://s1228.photobucket.com/user/jaba3112/media/15184074_1254048491328305_1420494466_o_zpswoqnvdog .jpg.html)

I was hoping it was just rusted out where they had covered up, but unfortunately it goes a little deeper into the sill than that.

Yet to find out what behind this patch below the door hinge mounts but from feeling behind its the same story as the left hand side.

http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/jaba3112/download%2011_zpsdhqz2uhi.png (http://s1228.photobucket.com/user/jaba3112/media/download%2011_zpsdhqz2uhi.png.html)

Fortunately you can get replacement panels for the outer skin, however I have not been able to find any replacements for the rest of the areas not covered by the panel below, all in all not too bad and will give me a chance to fabricate a few simple pieces to repair the rotted out areas without having to worry too much about it looking good as it will mostly never see daylight again.

In more exciting news I've purchased a motor and box. LS3 / TR6060 out of a VF2 SSV (commodore) with 14,000k's (8,700 miles ), close enough to new for me and at a very reasonable price. :)

Little bit of progress, started the repairs on the cowl area, and coated it in a product called KBS rust seal. Very similar to POR15 and it has worked great so far for me.

It's a 3 part system, 1. Aqua Kleen ( Degreaser ) 2. Rust Blast ( Converter ) 3. Rust seal (sealer / top coat )

The Rust blast worked very well on what I would consider heavy rust, however it took a couple of hours of constant spraying and wire brushing and I used almost an entire bottle on just the side inner cowl area that is in the pictures above.

Regardless it worked great and the Sealer looks really nice and levels out nicely.

http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/jaba3112/download%2015_zpss9ntzoeo.png (http://s1228.photobucket.com/user/jaba3112/media/download%2015_zpss9ntzoeo.png.html)

Also started striping the floor back to bare metal and coating with the KBS system. Didn't bother with the rust blast as it was completely bare metal, just the cleaner and sealer. Came out great and hopefully wont have to touch it ever again. Have left some areas un touched as they will be cut out when the floor pan tubs and firewall are replaced.

Little comparison, before during and after.

Bit more progress, done as much of the floor as i can, also painted the underside of the dash, parcel shelf and rear firewall in a semi gloss black. Will all be covered in dynamat anyway but a layer of nice clean smooth paint doesn't go astray.

Also used sikaflex 227 to seal up all of the panel seams, messy stuff! Didn't turn out too bad, i just need to go around with a razor blade and cut off any stringy bits.

http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/jaba3112/download%2020_zps4tf4zixb.png (http://s1228.photobucket.com/user/jaba3112/media/download%2020_zps4tf4zixb.png.html)

Rust repairs will be finished this weekend hopefully, and i might take a saw tot he firewall as well if i have time, that will be a nerve racking experience haha!

Bit of progress, lower cowl area has been patched, sealed and the replacement panel welded in. Also quite proud of my seam sealing job, came out super neat. Ill be doing the same to the opposite side.

Also removed the firewall ready for a nice flat piece to replace it with a bead rolled pattern, the wiper motor hole will be filled in and the motor will be relocated behind the guard on the firewall where the 'X' is.

Big score! Picked up a set of forgeline GA3Rs second hand for a great price. The offsets are to suit VE commodores / pontiac G8 so all i have to do is order a set of outer barrels to suit 315/335 tyre combo on the Camaro. Stoked!

and finally a beautiful piece from Speedtech, it will be a shame to paint it but it just wont match the theme of the car.

My large order of parts including the subframe and torque arm also arrived which i'm yet to be able to un pack. However I did get sent this pic of the subframe.

http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/jaba3112/Camaro%20Build/17270379_10154829445210932_1761530445_n_zpsbdu4mac r.jpg (http://s1228.photobucket.com/user/jaba3112/media/Camaro%20Build/17270379_10154829445210932_1761530445_n_zpsbdu4mac r.jpg.html)

Car is now at a workshop having the mini tubs installed, flat firewall made and a few other little bits and pieces.

After reading the G5R build thread on here about 100 times I decided to clean up the ATS aluminum spindles by removing the casting marks and having them bead blasted and clear coated by Greg Hogan aka CRISIS

Quickly hit them with some primer to make sure there weren't any deep marks left from the Dremel. First time 'detailing' parts like these, hoping to do a lot of the engine bay parts to go that little extra mile.

Very cool, and coming together pretty quick. That thing is gonna be nasty. I did some of the same mods to my second gen. Mine is still a long way from done though, you're smart not to paint it!

BTW, my wife and I visited Australia in December and loved it! I want to build a RHD Ute now. Although I will say it was awesome banging gears left handed in the rental. She couldn't do it though, too weird for her.

Bit of an update, got the spindles back from Greg which turned out perfect.

http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee445/jaba3112/18449997_1432444736822012_287926650_n_zps3tygli22. jpg (http://s1228.photobucket.com/user/jaba3112/media/18449997_1432444736822012_287926650_n_zps3tygli22. jpg.html)

And I've spent the past few weekends painting all my suspension components and motor / box.

It all came out absolutely perfect with a finish as nice as a lot of exterior paint on new cars.

Both colours are from a Maserati, Grigio Alfieri is the lighter colour and Grigio Granito is the darker colour. All components are finished in high gloss with the exception of the motor and box.

First up we prepped and painted all of the smaller parts that i could fit in the car.

Then came the motor box and frame, unfortunately being in a rush to get this stuff out of the panel shop I didn't have a chance to get any decent photos.

Then we mounted the driveline to the frame to storage and transport. And fitted a few bits to see how it all works together!

Plan is to add a Drive Junky front accessory drive in brushed with Black anodized pulleys, and carbon fiber rocker covers. Should all tie in nicely.

Hoping to get the car back from having the tubs and firewall done soon, then ill work on prepping the underside for raptor liner and getting the diff chopped up to suit the 335 rear tyres which are waiting in the US for my new wheel pieces, headers, trans tunnel cover and drive junky setup.

Well, this has escalated quite quickly. Long story short I went to remove a piece of the wrap and it just pulled the clear coat right off with it. This happened even with the aid of a heat gun right from the get go. I knew one of the 1/4s was butchered and needing replacement and that i wanted to undercoat the floor. So i decided to get the entire shell blasted, with the remainder of the sheet metal at a later date.

As it turns out, both 1/4s require replacing as well as the boot floor / tail light panel. So I've ordered basically the entire back half of the car, door skins, twin headlight / RS nose cone and cowl panel. It's a shame so much needs replacement but it leaves me open to do some custom touches to the 1/4s and rockers, as id like to have a bit of functional aero on this car including a large splitter, flat floor panels, diffuser and spoiler.

Going to try and attempt as much of the repair work myself as possible, other than the 1/4s as I'm aiming for quite a high standard with the fit/finish/quality now to match the stout suspension / driveline.

Have begun by removing the cowl panel to repair the inner structure rust on both corners.

I also received my new outer wheel halves from the states to make the overall size an 18x12, fits with a surprising amount of room to spare with the minitubs.

Now away again for work until late November, then hoping to really get stuck into it during Decemeber when I have some time off. The remaining replacement sheet metal is about to leave the states but I can tidy up the rest of the small areas that need attending too, along with the cowl without having to rush.

Finally had time to start repairing the rusted sections of the Camaro. Was my first ever attempt at sheet metal fabrication and welding. So the welds arent fantastic and the piece isnt perfect. But the cowl panel still fits nicely and the welds had decent penetration. All in all i'd call it a success.

Going to get stuck into the other side during the week and hopefully have the cowl area rust free by the weekend, then it's onto a few sections of the floor that I can repair. After that it will be time to mock up the suspension and drive train whilst I await my sheetmetal to arrive. I'd like to set the motor as far back as possible for some custom radiator ducting, without taking up too much legroom.

Long time no update!

Where to start. Apologies for the poor quality / portrait photos, i really should have kept on top of documenting the build a little more thoroughly.

Fitted the Speedtech torque arm rear suspension.

A benefit of removing the trunk floor was that i could fully weld the cross brace that the coilovers and panhard bar bolt too, with a floor already in place you can't get a mig / tig in to fully weld the brace along the top edge.

I also had the Forgeline GA3R's refinished. The centre's were done in the same colour as the motor / transmission, with the inner barrels being done in gloss black to hopefully hide brake dust in the future.

The next big task was to fit the Extreme subframe.

After having the firewall made i wasn't happy with the execution, it was warped and the top edge wasn't very level which made cutting a large hole in it to fit the driveline as far back as the frame allows a little easier.

Nearly the entire motor except the Drive Junky accessory drive will sit in line or behind the front axle centre line. Pretty happy with that!

After waiting over 12 months for my AMD sheet metal to arrive from the states after a major shipping f**k up the old junk panels were finally removed and the new pieces installed. This included

- full 1/4 panels
- trunk floor + drop off extensions
- outer wheel houses
- rear beaver panel
- rear tail light panel
- doors skins

Basically everything rearward of the fenders was replaced, fortunately the fenders were completely rust free and undamaged save for a little warping on the passenger side.

AMD only supply trunk floors to suit 71-73 camaros, the 70's have a different shape floor and rear parcel shelf setup, so some modification was required to make it all match up. Can't tell it was done now that its been metal finished.

Thanks all!

In the future I plan on running an angled radiator and hood ducting similar to the RS Rampage Camaro. Since i need to push the radiator as far forward as possible i needed to look at changing how the hood latch system works.

The factory setup is massive and bulky, so i removed the lever system and modified the bracket to accept a newer cable release GM latch ( found on a chevy ss / VF Commodore )

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48443951111_4baf74cf6a_b.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2gNPUUp)20190803_123106 (https://flic.kr/p/2gNPUUp)

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48444104247_9791eec432_b.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2gNQGqF)20190803_123158 (https://flic.kr/p/2gNQGqF)

I also modified the large support bracket to allow the radiator to fit further forward into the nose.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48461180287_0db757dc91_b.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2gQmdxa)20190406_171322 (https://flic.kr/p/2gQmdxa)

All factory mount locations remain, and I've used a Lokar universal cable release system to open the hood and trunk.

https://www.lokar.com/assets/images/products/int-access/trunkhoodrelease/hood-trunk.jpg

With the trunk all that was needed was a small tab for the cable to attach too, and a bracket for the cable adjuster.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48443952441_a2e454c8b7_b.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2gNPVik)20190422_110604 (https://flic.kr/p/2gNPVik)

Pretty happy with the results, i will trim the cable once i have decided on a mounting place for the two release handle. The only downside i have found is that the handles have to be mounted on the passenger side, so ill have to get out of the car and walk around to the passenger side to open either the hood or trunk, but it is not a deal breaker. Hopefully i wont ever have to open the hood in a hurry or whilst out driving

Thanks!

Final update for a little while, instead of going the common DSE subframe connectors, i wanted to maximize rear passenger legroom / comfort by offsetting the connectors close to the rockers.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48443934981_359345d21c_b.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/2gNPQ7i)PART_1563193722369 (https://flic.kr/p/2gNPQ7i) by Jake Baldwin (https://www.flickr.com/photos/121996641@N02/), on Flickr

I also wanted the connection points to the subframe to look almost seamless with no brackets or bracing protruding out each side.

They have also been notched to suit the aftermarket Planted seat rails for my Recaro CS seats i got for an absolute steal! (approx $500 USD).

The rear seat area was also raised up (as you can see above) to add a tonne of room for mufflers.

Next plan is to sort the firewall, get a driveshaft made and finish the trans tunnel.

A pet hate of mine with second gen camaros is the top of the cowl that uses the cheap plastic to stop leaves etc getting into the cowl. I plan on adjusting the shape of the openings and creating custom "fake vents" that wont allow any moisture or dirt etc into the cowl. More on that soon :)

A few posts coming up to fit all of this amazing work in.

One of the biggest sheet metal projects is now ticked off the list. Having pushed the motor and gearbox back I've had to recess the firewall 2" to give clearance behind the motor for sensors, wiring and a pair of bulkhead connectors.

Another issue with pushing the motor back is header clearance on the drivers side foot well / kick board. As I've gone to a Wilwood pedal setup I no longer need the additional clearance the factory provides on the drivers side so I have had it modified by the masters at The Panel Shop in Bibra Lake, WA to match the passenger side.

This also means the new firewall can be symmetrical instead of having a step out at the bottom to match the D/S kick board.

The factory floor was removed and replaced along with the reinforced frame mount section being extended in a similar way the P/S was built from factory.

With the floor sorted the guys could move onto sorting out the actual firewall.

It was made out of two pieced formed in a buck (the firewall and recess) then welded, planished and metal finished.

A small section of the cowl area was removed in order to fit the recess, this took a little bit of working out as the Raingear wiper system also required that real estate and on top of that i have modified the cowl openings in the panel to have a more uniform shape (and to get rid of the ugly plastic grill that barely stops leaves!) Thankfully there is just enough space for everything to fit nicely, with 10mm or so clearance between the wiper arm and the firewall / cowl.

And some final shots from when I got it home, had to throw on the intake and exhaust headers for a bit of a look.

I wasn't completely sold on the shape of the recess at first but now that I have seen it with the intake and manifolds mocked up i'm quite pleased with how its turned out.

The guys didn't have time before the Christmas / new year break to sort out the trans tunnel so i have brought it home to look into the steering components, driveshaft and maybe some wiring / plumbing mock up.

Cheers!

Another job ticked off. Manned up and cut a hole for the column after measuring it at least 25 times with string lines, levels and a laser. Thankfully got it in the correct spot. Then went about connecting the column to the rack.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49191429096_e0ba649d65_c.jpg

It required 3 uni joints and therefore a support bearing. I wanted to avoid having to weld to the frame or make a bracket so I drew up a small threaded extension that bolts to the frame and had it machined at a local shop. I just need to have two slots milled into it so i can fit a spanner on it to tighten everything down. At the time it didn't even cross my mind.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49190929488_bdce15f135_c.jpg

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49190929533_0b6634c391_c.jpg

That was the tricky bit, after about 5 trips back and forth and some trial and error I finally found a setup that worked well.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49191429176_4a35df359b_c.jpg

Turned out pretty nice, moves nice and smoothly. Surprisingly I could actually turn the front wheels (when on jack stands) from rotating the column uni joint by hand, so I'm pretty confident once I sort a steering wheel there will be no issues. Pedal box next!

Something to note for anyone planning on doing this in the future. I used Borgeson Uni Joints and 3/4" Double D shaft for all parts except the Uni joint that fits the rack. I found the Borgeson shaft did not fit the Borgeson support bearing as the tolerance was too tight and therefore had to purchase another shaft of unknown brand. Sadly only found this out after I had cut the shafts to length!! Just a heads up to check everything fits together well before cutting up the shafts!

Another thread revival, really need to keep on top of updating these forum threads of mine. None the less there has still been progress!

First up is the trans tunnel, since i had shortened the subframe bushings it has brought the motor / trans up higher into the cabin than a normal LS / T56 would sit resulting in a new tunnel front to rear being built. I made sure that the guys kept it as close to the trans as possible and to drop it down at the back of the trans as soon as possible, got to have room for cup holders!

Moving into the boot / trunk area, i had an Accusump, battery, fuel and diff breathers to mount.

Decided to simply mount the Accusump directly to the rear bulkhead with the supplied brackets and some plates with taped holes in them welded to the car.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49907789136_d0cc3dab7d_b.jpg

I then decided the best place for the fuel and diff breathers was just in front of that, however there was no flat surface large enough to mount them too as they are a bulkhead style canister that protrudes under the floor. I wanted it to look like a factory hump in the floor so i bought a cheap shrinker stretcher and set about making the piece with nice radiused edges to match the round canisters. Working with these metal shaping tools gives you a massive appreciation for the professionals who make it look oh so easy! Either way I'm quite happy with the results, i will grind down the welds to make it look like a factory pressed piece later.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49907272103_770425823f_b.jpg

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49908138352_47156294b1_b.jpg

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49907840611_f06f630ab3_b.jpg

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49907324833_e6ce21b7fc_b.jpg

Finally it was time for a battery tray, a lot of people sink them into the floor, however in Aus modifying the factory frame rails would be an issue for registration. So i have built a mount to level the battery even with the car. I could have simply bolted the billet bracket to the floor, but I'm trying to avoid having any fasteners / unnecessary holes pass through the body.

I again matched the contour of the billet bracket with the shrinker stretcher and welded captive nuts to the underside. I built a flange onto it so I can plug weld this to the car once i have decided on a final position for it and seam sealed beneath it.

Now for something a little unrelated to the build but something i thought would be cool to share. I scored an awesome prep trolley from a friend of mine that i thought would make an awesome welding / metal work cart.

It has a large storage area at the back, two large drawers and a wire frame designed to hold orbital sanders. Perfect for my small orbital electric sander and 4" grinders. I built a shelf for the welder, small bracket to hold the files and wire brush, and then covered the surfaces in non slip mat to stop everything rattling around on when moving it.

Few small jobs in this one, first up mounting the Turbosmart FPR.

A pet peeve of mine is FPR's and catch can's etc on a smooth firewall, I went with this unit as its super compact and can still flow 2000HP of fuel. More than enough for my little LS3!

Decided to mount it to the back of the intake manifold with a few fittings, unfortunately no matter how hard i searched i could find a 120 degree female to male union, so i chopped up a 180 degree fitting i had and welded a male bung to it. I then bent up a small bracket and bang, all done and nicely hidden away yet still accessible to adjust the fuel pressure if needed.

I plan on having the frame / engine / gearbox as easy to remove as possible so i have opted for a set of bulkhead connectors to quickly release the engine loom from the body when required. Unfortunately these connectors i quite bulky so i built a small recess for them with some 2.5" exhaust tubing, that will be welded to the firewall once final placement is decided.

The last image shows how far out into the engine bay the connector would sit if it wasn't recessed, imagine the edge of the grey tubing as the firewall.

I custom ordered the Drive Junky setup with brushed components and black pulleys to break up the silver a little bit, matches well with the scheme I'm going for. Absolutely beautiful kit, great instructions, everything went together perfectly.

Next up is some carbon from Anvil auto, front spoiler and inner fenders, front spoiler fits decent, may need a little adjustment but that may be due to my aftermarket sheetmetal.

The inner fenders are a little disappointing in quality / fitment in my opinion, thankfully the areas of concern are not visible and can therefore be modified / worked, cant deny they look great though, even when covered in tape. I was concerned they would hit the frame with the modified subframe mounts but they tuck in nicely with the Speedtech Extreme frame.

The car is looking incredible and I am enjoying the build. I espeically like all the blue tape as I think the tape is my second biggest unknown expense as I use to protect things and write notes and tape it to the area that needs to be addressed.

As for the Anvil inner fenders. I have a Carbon/Fiberglass set and they fit well on all the original sheet metal only had to modify a couple holes. I know a couple guys that had fitment issues with aftermarket fenders.

Not sure if you have seen the RS Nose from Keith @ Custom Works it looks like a nice piece.

Thanks mate! I hear you on the tape, our local hardware stores only stock high quality 3M stuff, costs a small fortune but cheaper than damaging the carbon / billet parts!

My fenders i believe are genuine GM parts, the areas of concern would be an issue no mater which fenders you have im sure, but as said nothing that cant be fixed, shame they have to be touched though.

I am planning on getting one of the one piece noses from Custom Works! Have been in contact but a little bit involved being from Aus of course.

Definitely plan on keeping a rear seat mate, the factory frames are very deep when compared to modern foams, you could get the factory seat frames to suit with some modification but i think you would be better off just replacing it with some modern seat foam that doesn't require the sprung bases like the factory ones do.

It will be pretty tight back there with the DSE tubs so i can't imagine anyone will want to be back there for extended periods of time, mainly for attending car shows etc.

The back seat with the DSE tubs isn’t that bad. It’s the proximity of the front seat to the back seat that’s tight. I did it for cosmetic reason only and I think it looks better to have a back seat.

The bottoms of these are now match the lowest part of the frame ready for a partial flat floor from the nose of the car to the front of the rear axle.

Only a bit of work to go on the hood / fender gaps and that should be almost all of the major metal work done, besides a rear diffuser and hood vent I plan to tie into everything at a later date.

I've also go to try and decide the best fix to the terrible gap between the back of the trunk lid and the rear tail light panel. Would anyone care to share how they have tidied up this area?

Extended rockers are done. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I hope this is the way Goosesdad looks at this post because I cannot deny that these were heavily influenced by his awesome work.

I had Larry paint the tail panel Satin Black as it hides weird body line. Plus I had Kenny paint the car Satin blue so i didn’t have to worry about spending thousands on body work.

I had a 73 RS LT and the trunk was the same right from Chevy. Those rockers make a big difference.

Hella yeh. Following this build. Would you mind sharing what lift you are using on this project? I need one myself for my 69 Camaro project.
