putting a 572 in a 69 Camaro and was wondering if anyone knew an intake that would fit under hood. It will be procharged so would like to have throttle body on front.

would be nice if a whipple type supercharger could be made for a big block chevy.

There aren't that many options available for front facing throttle body type setups for BBC. A local guy has the Edelbrock Pro-Flo setup on a TT BBC Chevelle but I think it'd be questionable fit under the hood of a F-body. It seems just tall enough that near the front where the throttle body is I think it may be an issue. Edelbrock has decent measurements available on their site for most intakes so that may be worth a look. Same intake they use on their Musi co-branded crate BBC engines with EFI option.

Your best bet is probably a Precision Metalcraft (site sponsor) or Hogan fabricated sheetmetal intake if you can swing it. Those are basically custom and I've seen some with fairly short runners which would help keep the height to a minimum.

Then if money is no object there's always the option of a billet piece like those available from NRE, Steve Morris, et al. :G-Dub:

Can't say I remember seeing this setup in a car but I'm pretty sure the units are available to do this. You see them in boats.

Thanks I will keep looking. May have to use one with throttle body on top. Just really didn't want to.

You can have one made by CFE, Moran, Hogan's etc etc out of sheetmetal. They can put the throttle body wherever you want it and make it actually work. Use that with a Holley Dominator EFI and you're set. Expect to be in it $5-$6k with the EFI in place.

Yes I was going with Holley dominator so I would have transmission controller also.

Not sure whether Arizona Speed's setup would work?

No I actually have that one on the motor now and it is about 3 inches to tall. Worked well in the boat but to tall for car. Thanks

I'm running the Holley MPI set-up for a BBC on my Shafiroff 540 Ultra Street and am normally aspirated. A power adder will not work with this set-up with out increasing the size of the cowl hood. I have a factory cowl hood and can barely fit my air cleaner.

Yes I think I am going to have to have one built. I would be ok with about 18 inches above China rail but havent found one yet that would work.

That's wrong. I have about 10 inches from China rail. My bad

Did you look at the Nelson Alien Intake? He runs them boosted and they will fit under a standard hood, let alone a cowl hood.

I once owned this piece, but never installed it. I was a nicely built unit though.
