Is there a radio that doesnt have the CD/DVD tray? I mean, who uses CDs anymore anyway. Would like something not as deep, maybe with touch screen, Android based OS, that has USB connection, Bluetooth.....?

App radio based. Don't know if its any shallower, but I would think any standard DIN sized head unit is going to have the same overall dimensions as any other.

Have you thought about running a Bluetooth amp and using your android device as the head unit?

I have thought about making a mount for a 4" or so tablet/phone to use as the audio, but can't get local radio on it.

If I still had the factory head unit, that's the only way I would go.

I'm actually using an infinity kappa k5 bluetooth amp and just use my phone with the TuneIn Radio app to listen to my local channels.

I have also used IHeart Radio app for listening to stations, works really well. You can listen to stations from all over the world.
