Great looking AMC, you could probably find a wreck car with a T56 to use for a manual swap, that's what I did I bought a wrecked Z28 and salvaged the LT1/T56, leather seats, and center consule and when it was all said and done I paid basically $1070 and that's well below what people are selling them for on ebay and Craigslist by them selves.

For 1967, to me, the Rebel was by far the best looking intermediate out there. Clean lines and not too big and heavy. Good job. Just do it right.

Wow, thats a real bummer. Either someone made a huge mistake, or was bold enough to steal a pallets worth of parts thinking no one would notice. We hope you can get it sorted with some kind of compensation at the very least.

I love different cars and you look like you have a cool one. I doubt you go to a car show and park next to a guy with the same model very often.

The pedals turned out really well, bet those were difficult to find. Judging by the before and after, you just made a diamond from coal. Nice save.

In one of your last images you have a tub of Lith-Ease grease in the background. I have the same tub and I think I bought it from Western Auto. I've never seen another one in someone's shop until now. Hahaha

Car looks great! I think the 285's will be fine. I just put 315's on my Rebel that is on air and didn't need to touch the inside of the wheelwell or the outside lip. Since it is lowered, I did need to cut a section out of the wheelwell that angles down and outward from the middle of the well toward the lip.

Ha! That's funny. I was considering black wheels. I love the painted steel wheel look but a 17x11 steel wheel was waayyy too heavy. These are aluminum but, apparently like you, it took forever to get them. Once I did get them they were wrong and had to go back to be redone!

I don't want to hijack your build thread with my pics but I would be glad to send you pics of my build. It is very similar to yours.

I am really looking forward to your posts.

I don't mind the stripe too much but i think it would be a lot better if the "fat" part was somewhere around twice as wide or so. just too skinny of a stripe on that big hood for me.

What i do love on this car is the "bullets" in the front fenders and rear quarter panels that tie into the bumpers, but the bumpers being chrome just throws off the flow a lot. I think it would look sweet to paint match the bumpers and then black out the complete grill and headlight buckets and have the chrome trim on it in red like the VW GTI's do? just thinking out loud lol

03-14-2017, 08:12 PM
well Scott we think a lot alike never thought about blacking out the grille though and the red sounds kinds neat too bumpers were on my radar from the get go but very hard to find and i really don't what to do it to these bumpers for the reason thinking about a six inch wide stripe instead of 4 inch so well see and thanks for thinking out loud .....
