Well I got most of my car back from mediablasting last week and thank god there were no real suprises. I havent picked up the doors or front fenders yet so we'll see what comes back on them. I know there is some bondo work there too. One fender may be a lost cause based on the the bondo thickness I could feel and the number of "drill and pull holes" and better to replace.

For the most part it has what I expected and knew was there . I could tell there was bondo and rust on the lower rear quarters and the drivers side quarter near the tailight. I was also aware that the car had been in an accident and probably had the front frame replaced ( the frame to body welds are crap and not even factory crap, the firewall has some dimples and waves that had been straightened but not very well etc). Typical window channel rust but no to bad. The trunk was rotted out and I cut most of it out before mediablast. Some small sections around the trunk edge too. Basically lots of small sections that need repair but not too bad. Not great but far from a lost cause or a total rust bucket.

The worst area looks to be the driver side rear quarter..... looks like cellulite and there is rust at the lower section of quarter panel in front of and behind wheel ( I think I'll probably skin or full quarter that section). The dimples in the firewall near the inner fenderwell attachement is going to ba a PITA too since its just an awkward area and there are wrinkles on the rolled edge. I'm thinking I may be better off getting another cowl section and cutting and splicing the good/bads sections.

Before I disassembled the car I did have an autobdy shop check the frame to body etc for any twist or misalignment and they said it was all good. The welds just look like crap and probably should be redone.

Some of the stuff I'm going to tackle myself and some I'll have to farm out to someone more experienced in panel replacement and metal work. We'll see what I can do. Its hard to decide where to get started !!

I did get it in PPG DPLF epoxy primer within about 2 days of being blasted, so now its time to start the metal work.

My Yahoo Barracuda album (http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/drjdvm95/album?.dir=/be8cscd&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/drjdvm95/rlst%3f.dir=/%26.src=ph%26.done=http%253a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/drjdvm95/lst%253f%2526.dir=/Engine%252band%252bAC%2526.src=ph%2526.view=t)

If anyone can post the pictures directly in this post that would be great !!

cool. so what are your plans for this car?

The plan is the full PT treatment. Think Joe Rogans Sick Fish on a much, much smaller budget.

Not sure on color yet, but there will be some mild body mods such as shaved handles, emblems, marker lights etc. For suspension I'm still researching either the XV motorsports stuff (if it ever comes into production and gets a price) or the AirRide suspension. I'm also waiting on some more stuff from Lateral dynamics. There isnt much out there right now but it looks like there are a few compainies that have stuff coming out soon. Probably 19's front and 20's rear. As far as motor I'm leaning towards a new modern 5.7 HEMI either procharged or turbo depending on my budget as I get deeper into the project. Custom interior with a 4 point cage and probably minitubbed.

We'll see if my wallet can keep up with my vision for the car. You know how that goes.

Very nice!

Now work them mad photo skills and get me a pic for the under construction area :)

Oh, and PHR would be very interested in that car when it's done. It's easier to get in the book (not as long a line) when you have a Mopar compared to a Camaro. lol

Should be a sweet ride.

Don't worry, we've got you covered if you need some NOS fenders, only 13K for the pair. (http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20552).

Where did you get it blasted Ned? I may be requring their services later this year (if I finally get around to painting my heap... lol)

Did you find out why the driver's door and rocker panel looked kind of goofy? I remember we both stared at that for a while.

Looks good Ned! You are getting a lot done these days.

I have been pretty busy lately w/the new baby, but when you are ready to hang that new qtr, I'll come over.

(OK, I really just want to get out of the house for a while!) :willy:

Thanks guys.

Troy- I got it blasted at a place in Lodi. Good prices and they did a great job. Goodmark is coming out with repop stuff soon, so if/when I need to do a full fender I'll have to go the the repop. I saw the post on the NOS stuff.... not a frickin chance. The rocker has some damage to it, so it must have gotten tweaked down at the same time.

Rob- You know I'm going to be hitting you up for help on the rust work. All this replacement stuff is going to be a first for me, so I'll need all the help I can get. :)

new hemi swap is the way to go. are you gonna get a pulled engine or buy one new? you probably already know you can get one cheaper then the Mopar crate engine. im doing a hemi swap into my 64 dart convertible gt. im not going too crazy with the suspension, although i am going with the AlterKtion unit up front Bill makes at RMS, ill probably be using leaf springs in the rear. alot of guys have used Bills unit and i havent heard any complaints he also has Air ride options for the AlterKtion. Bills also real cool to work with. ya might want to check him out. as far as new hemis go S&P has fair prices. when im ready for my engine im thinking of getting it from them, unless i can find someone local to help me out. painless is also doing wiring harnesses for the 5.7 and 6.1 hemis with comp cams (dont know if theyre out yet). corse ya probably know about everything im telling ya.
keep us updated.

Well I got the doors and front fenders back today.... not so good :faint:.... quite a bit more of the "shot gun hole and cellulite look" to one door and one fender. If it were a GM car i would definitely junk them and get new stuff. With Mopar I may be better off getting them fixed since the dont make repop door skins and the fenders are $600 plus tax/shipping. Replacement doors are hard to find too.....

Now I'm more depressed..... it can all be fixed but more $$, time and effort......
