Indeed Wayne, always wanted a true shop to work in, this one is 30' x 60' with the last 24' in width going back 44' deep. Could only go with 10' ceiling do to height restrictions but gonna have to live with it eh!!

Thanks Scott, couldn't bring myself to sell it when I had the chance after putting all those years into it, but you never know, may have to sell it to complete this build....just like a car, many a unexpected extra cost :popcorn2: I'm Just outside Seattle Wa. next to Tacoma in a little town called Ruston...It's an awesome place.

Nicely done Lenie! Nice of you to wait until mine was all done and I'm moved in. You know I don't like being one upped! LOL

What's the finish date? How much of the work are you doing?

Artist rendition of the finial product?

Hi Greg, I'm having subs do the shell until completely enclosed, I'll help with the roof and I'll do the siding. Hopefully enclosed by end of summer/september, then I'll do everything on the inside from the studs to completion...I'm thinking a year from that point.

Hi Wayne, a lot of in between work but should be pouring shop slab next Wednesday along with remaining garage footings and walls then start framing the following week. This is the shop which sits below the house. Gets a little hectic at times but trying to follow a good friends sound advice and just enjoy it as it progresses.

Hi Jose, the other way widths are 30' and 44' deep. W/O spending a ton more money, this was the easiest way.

Thanks guys,Hmmm nothing really, dammmmmmm now you've got me thinking.

Wayne, the one pic next to the two car garage up top is a single car garage over living space so yes on glulams there, the entire front of the house over the shop is all glulams also for point loading, span of beams and being able to cut down for deck slope, same on third level and all 16" beams...should be solid:lol:

Lenie, I only ask because I've had a car catch fire (thankfully not inside a garage or shop) but it was freak enough to make me cautious and consider this for the future. Now that I have kids I am even extra cautious for wherever my car(s) will get stored and/or worked on.

Trying to enjoy but your know.....and yes I hate squeak and pops, hoping for the best. Tried to get dried in before the rain but not working out the way I wanted, oh well, time for rain coats.

Absolutely gorgeous! Would like to see more of this type of architecture and if you don't mind I'm curious what part of the country your building this in? I tried to do something similar here in Michigan a few years back and if its not a colonial the builders seem to go tilt.

You see this style in about every high end auto ad on TV these days. I think this is the next fad coming but people just don't know about it or know how to build it. I dream of a sub full of these on 1/2 acre or larger lots.

Very nice... Mike

Wow, great build! This is an awesome looking house, and I really like the drive in basement shop. I had a house with almost the same, but not nearly as nice setup and I am sorry I sold it. It takes a special site to make it work well and yours looks like a perfect fit. I did a build similar to this that we finished last year Not mine, but my design and we are currently finalizing another similar design/ build.

Thank you. Been wanting to build this style of home for years...pro's, love the shop...

The wife and I are living in that there RV while we build the home...MOTIVATION! One day at a time....there are days I wish I drank alot :bang:

Being on site full time is definitely a plus!! Everything that went wrong with my build happened on a day when I couldn't get out here and they "used their best judgment..."

Jeff-

Being here full time does make it easier to get work accomplished but there is no they, It's just the wife and I building it.

Love how you went with the design of the house. Can't wait to see the final product and see how the shop turns out.

Beautiful home!

OMG... we talked about doing that and are so glad we didn't. Just spent 4 days in the RV in Tucson and on day 3 of rain I said to the wife "Wish we had been in here for last 4 months?" I got a dirty look

House looks great...good luck on finishing it up.

So I've been gone a while, still busy building the house/shop as it's basically just the wife and I doing it all but we do have a final and are now living in it while we finish. Been using the summer to landscape and will finish the few things left inside this winter. Truth is I had a pretty tough time with all of ours good friend Mr. Greg Weld's passing. Last we spoke he was planning on attending the Puyallup GG show and while here stopping by the house and hanging for a while. As you know things didn't really work out that way and we lost a really good guy...So again, really just want to say miss you Greg and FUK Cancer! With that I'll try to post a few pics every couple of days of the build and shops progress. Hope everybody is well.

Your house is just incredible. I know my wife would love it as well. Real Dream Home right there.

I, too, think of Greg often and thought of him a lot today while I was stopping at Sonoma Raceway where Greg and I spent a lot of time together.

We will truly never forget him. Larger than life he was.

House is looking epic! Love every detail. Hope to take the tour next time I am up your way.

Greg was a badazz on so many levels. I am so thankful to have had him in my life. I am a better person because of him. I am thankful to have the best part of Greg in my life... his daughter. She's one heck of a friend... just like her father.

My son stopped by with his drone today, pretty fun. Best part of the house is the three car garage up top and the 2300 sq/ft shop below. :P
