Seeing if anyone is planning on being at Thunderhill next weekend.
I'm going to be breaking in my new car and running in the beginner group.
If you see me stop by and say hi it's always nice to put a name to a face. I should have Maier's pop up tent for shade so I should be easy to shop.

Nice!
I was gonna try to swing up there and see that pile Weld and hang for a day. Will likely be Sunday if I can make it.
Have been to several of these as a spectator/heckler and it really is a great scene and well run.
Car looks killer.

You'll have so much fun you'll go crazy!!
Don't be nervous - just kick back and enjoy it.... You'll be given an instructor - and if you just pay attention to what they're saying and take it all in... you'll have a blast.
Be prepared to change and adjust tire pressures -- they're very important. Park next to us - we have tools and compressors and will be happy to lend a hand. Bring some water -- you need several bottles per day.... Food is available at the track. There's a WalMart right at the exit of highway 162 and I-5 - so if you have a cooler - take the chance to fill it. They sell Ice at the track - but it's triple vs WalMart.
Don't forget your safety gear!! And print and bring with you - the tech sheet - and medical form etc.
Will you be there Friday night?? Where are you staying?? We'll be at the Holiday Inn

You bought the right car to run with this group. You will fit right in. Try not to drive like Greg did his first first day in the beginner group. Lots of complaints from other beginners about some guy on their ass.
Seriously though having the different groups makes it easy to learn and move up to different groups as you get faster. If you have never run Thunderhill it is a great track with plenty of runoff room in case you run out of talent.

Awesome, thanks for being so inviting guys. I got 6 track days in last year but was with a CTS -V (ABS / Traction Control )
I've not been behind the wheel of a non-abs (manual) without traction control in some time, so i'm going to pace myself.
I'm staying in Chico both nights, i went to college there and a friend of mine still lives in town so i'm staying with him and his family. It's another hour to the track in the morning but I want to catch up.
Good point on the ICE / Cooler, I've done that before and end up spending 20 dollars on waters.

What a good looking car, Nate! Your wheel choice looks perfect, how wide did you end up with?
Hopefully all of the work you and Mike put into it pays off and you've got a car you can get out and enjoy....I imagine it'll be a bit different than the CTS-V!
Try2paz:

Sorry Nate - saw the question about numbers tonight - but see that Sieg responded and you ordered the right thing - so all's well.
See ya Friday. I'm headed out of here at O'dark thirty in the morning - get to Reno - Then to Charlie's to get the old bucket of bolts on Friday - then up to wait for 'em to open the gate and let the fun begin!

Great weekend with perfect weather. I was chasing a bad front end vibration that turned out to be junk tires. SonarChief graduated Segway school.

It was a great weekend, there was good racing and good-natured banter between Greg and Charlie. It was nice to meet Nate, Mike, Chet, Kevin and ... I'm sure I'm missing a couple people!!
Charlie, do I get a diploma from Segway Driving School 101?

Another perfect weekend of wasting tires, fuel, and brakes!
Nate did a great job - his car sounds and looks great! And Charlie will help him go broke with "you know what you need".... LOL
Glad you came up Michael! Was a nice weekend that was made better with friends.

The "Spring Sprint" is always the driver school --- there were so many new drivers that wanted an instructor - they ran out of instructors and had to limit the school to 20 cars!! Pretty impressive really! I don't think we'd have had any more room for more cars!

The number 117 car in one of your pics above - is owned by Chet - and it used to be Pantera Bob's....
Chet drives the snot out of that car! It goes pretty dang well and he's a good wheel.

Good to see Chet is still running my old Mustang
Better than having it sit in the garage or a member
of the Jackstand racing team
I have been running with Checkered flag recently and
they have a event close to the Norcal Shelby event in the fall
It will be the 5.1 course with the bypass at turn 5... I have never
run the bypass so it will be fun... should have a few Panteras running
then... I may run one day with Shelby group as we are the day afterwards
