I'm wondering about sidewall deflection. How close is too close when running a 50 series tire, 5/16"? 3/8"?
What should I expect for tire movement when being pushed hard?
Thanks

5/16"-3/8" to the upper control arm. Good to go or hell no?

It looks like you'll be fine. Tires bounce back. More importantly, your tire's sidewall will push in at the bottom (under turning force), not so much the top--this is what my addled imagination says, anyway. The only thing I'd worry about at this point is whether it contacts under full droop (or wherever you get max negative camber). If you're clear there, things should work.

Thanks Paul. I got home today and thought, the hell with trying to fit a 255 on the front I'll just do 245's. Grabbed one of The A6's from GW and slapped it on, same amount of clearance...:sieg:
It is what it is, I'll order up the 245's and run it, if need be I may be able to run a small spacer.

No probz, Big D. At one point, I was using 1/4 inch spacers behind a set of front wheels--it seemed to numb the steering a bit, but it was tolerable, since the spacers kept the rims off the upper control arms at or near lock.
I'm seeing some bat-rolling in that car's future . . .

That is plenty of clearance. Make sure you check it at full lock also (I also like to remove the spring and make sure it doesn't get closer at the limits of travel), but anything over an 1/8 is good to go.
